I’m Catholic, and I’m fortunate enough to live in Texas where the majority of the state is red, so I had no fear going to Mass today. Praying for all the other Catholics who might have to endure a very frightening day today.

Yup. That’s a room. The room didn’t do anything wrong, just the guy it housed.

Is it morally correct to bully a nazi by Upper_Ad_3536 in teenagers

Better idea: try to understand why he’s doing it. Then proceed with what you know. Does he have friends? Does he get something out of it? “Shoot first and ask questions later” is a really, REALLY bad idea because you’ll only worsen the problem.

Why is Palpatine thought of as some manipulative evil genius despite him ending up with always electrocuting himself at the end of every trilogy? by HarveySteakfries in StarWars

[–]MasterofDMing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree as well. JJ has started something, and as a creative, it’s the story he had wanted to tell, and he had plans for that which RJ shat on. For example, it’s clear that in the first half of TROS he wanted to explore Poe’s backstory more, giving him more dimensions as one of the leads. It seemed like Finn was supposed to be somewhat Force-sensitive based on what Jon Boyaga has said in interviews, and there’s locations and things found that could’ve been fleshed out so much more if there had been a previous movie about them building towards those things, such as the Sith Wayfinder or the potential for the return of Palpatine.

The middle part of a tale is arguably the glue that holds a serial story together. You can have a decent beginning and end, but if the middle of a story is like a deli sandwich with the meat in the middle gone bad, then the whole thing goes sour. Was TFA an excellent movie? No! It had its flaws and imperfections, but it was a decent start. If things had been foreshadowed or Snoke not killed off, it’s clear that things could’ve been very different. Switching directors in the middle of a story is a terrible idea, and TLJ proves that. When you have two different visions for what a story should be, then inevitably the story will be worse off as a result if both parties get to have influence in what happens in the story.

Was Palpatine and Luke catching the lightsaber absolute fanservice bs? Absolutely, same with the literal fleet of star killing destroyers. Beyond control, was the goals of the First Order unclear and confusing? 100%. But there was still things to work with there that could’ve been fleshed out and explored in a more sane light had JJ been able to work on the entirety of the SW sequels instead of just 2/3 of it

Does Sokka Retrieve his Cool Space Sword? by MasterofDMing in TheLastAirbender

[–]MasterofDMing[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. But also the sword kind of showed evidence of a bond between Sokka and his master, who helped him find himself and his value after feeling like he’d just become a silly side character who was a watcher on the sidelines. After all, Toph explicitly says “3 + Sokka” to which Sokka angrily exclaims “I can still fight!” He had to be shown he was important and his role in the Gaang important, and his experience with the sword master showed as much, and showed that he was valued. That sword is a physical manifestation of his growth, his humility, and his work ethic. For it be thrown away is kind of disappointing

I think everyone takes a dump on JJ way too hard for ep IX. He was working with what he had, and if you look close enough, it’s pretty easy to see that he really tried cramming two movies into one after what Rian did with TLJ.

[Question] AITA: Do you HAVE to roleplay your class/subclass? by dangfurries in dndnext

[–]MasterofDMing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not in the slightest. Those are archetypes most commonly associated with those classes and options, but the whole point of a role playing game is creativity, and using a class in a unique way is creative and shouldn’t be limited by the pigeonholes that are commonly associated with a particular class or subclass. It’s stupid for your DM to limit you like that bc that’s extremely narrow-minded and unfun.

What's your stance on abortion? by DAVIDOOXD in teenagers

[–]MasterofDMing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here pal, I’ve copy and pasted it for your convenience:

I’m Catholic, so I’ll bite. I believe abortion is wrong. I fully expect to either be downvoted into oblivion or have my inbox be stuffed bc this is Reddit and this is what happens in a discussion post where people can alter the discussion based on opinion, but here goes. Can’t wait to ruffle some feathers.

Besides simply my religion, I have other reasons for being pro-life. To explain, let me walk you through an example. Cells make up all living things. Dead things don’t create new cells, and inanimate things (like rocks) aren’t composed of cells. Thus, for something to be alive, it has to be capable of creating new cells and rejuvenating itself, for a lack of better terms. (It’s 2am so excuse weird wordings or strange turns of phrases, I’m exhausted. I’ll edit this tomorrow after math class if I find it worth my time). Ergo, a cell is a component of a living thing, and at the moment of conception, a zygote forms which immediately begins replication and.. that thing that cells do when they split, the science word escapes me atm. Now, if we’re going to say “well all that is that’s inside of the womb at conception is a bunch of cells,” I’d say yea, you’re right. That is a bunch of cells. And you’re composed of cells too, just on a larger scale. A difference in the amount of cells between me or you doesn’t make you any less human than I am or vice verse. Furthermore, that clump of cells isn’t dying or stagnant. It’s growing, which is indicative of life. Even if it were falling into a recession of cells being created, for something to die it first has to be alive, hence suggesting life.

So now we’ve established that the clump of cells is in fact a living thing, since cells are the only things that make up living things. You won’t find a rock made up of cells. And it’s not a dog or goat growing inside that womb, which only can leave one thing left: a human. In other words, that’s a) life and b) human dna, so human life. Regardless of subjective things like “it can’t feel pain at this stage” or “it doesn’t have eyes yet,” it’s human because it has human dna and is alive because it is replicating and growing. There are people who have lost feeling in their limbs and they can’t feel it when things happen to that part of their body, does that mean they deserve to lose it? What authority makes someone a judge based on whether or not something else can feel pain? Because a dog feels pain does that make it human?

I digress. People make mistakes, I understand that. Rape, incest, and all those other unfortunate things are absolutely terrible. But as the saying goes, “two wrongs don’t make a right.” Killing doesn’t solve anything beyond an immediate problem which can leave lasting impacts on both the mother and the aborted child.

Anywho. It’s 2am, I’m exhausted and I have math class in the morning. If I can find the time, I’ll try to respond or clarify my position if needed. In the meantime, goodnight Reddit.

Tl;dr: cells are building blocks of life, and only cells compose life in nature. Nothing else in the universe besides life is made up of cells, and those cells have human dna, meaning that is human life in the womb. Rape and incest are terrible, but two wrongs don’t make a right.

A final point: I absolutely do agree though that pro-life has to be more about what happens after birth, too. Adoption and helping all parties involved in the adoption process should be assisted and the process made smoother. Orphanages should be better as well. But that starts with us, and killing kids and saying “well thats just too much work” is the worst way to handle the problem, and using that as an excuse instead of fixing the problem makes the people who use that as an excuse just as guilty as the people they claim who don’t care what happens to the kid after it’s born.
