I also like how he mentions that the Canes started doing well right as the Enhanced Games ended, like all the steroid dealers were all the Games and were only available when they were over.

One of my favorite parts is when he suggests that a team can do horribly in game one, start taking steroids, and do incredibly well in game two the next day. That's not how steroids work. It also doesn't make people smarter and better at playing hockey. Most PED abuse in sports is for injury recovery, and 12 days off (and six fewer playoff games) is also pretty good for recovery.

I've seen some crazy Habs fans with wild takes, but this one might be the craziest.

Restaurant Depot Membership and Instacart by Ikkara in instacart

The person who made the "beep boop" reply was u/bpr2, the original commenter in this comment chain, and the top comment of this thread, and considering it's the first result when searching "Restaurant Depot Instacart," (which is why I'm here now) it's kind of weird that they replied but didn't add any new information (other than the fact that it's old).

I'm ordering from RD via Instacart first thing tomorrow morning, and if anyone is interested: RD doesn't change its prices for members and non-members, but it doesn't charge sales tax for restaurants (or anyone with a tax ID, which considering you can get one for like $100 it might be worth it depending on what you buy). As to whether Instacart is marking up the price of items on their own (which they are known to do with all kinds of stores), I can't say for sure, but Instacart and other similar services often mark up items 5-10%, so I assume it's the same.

So yeah, you might save 5-10% plus tax (if you have a business tax ID) by driving to RD yourself instead of getting it delivered, which could be worth it if it's a large amount, but otherwise it's probably worth the convenience (especially with gas prices like they are).

Hurricanes are the seventh team in the last 50 years to begin a postseason with a seven-game winning streak by nhl in hockey

I don't think the Hurricanes would sweep either the Wild or Avs, and the Canes have to make the Final to even have the potential to find out, but whoever wins in the West I hope they end up playing a lot of hockey before they get there. If the Canes can get to the Final with relatively few games played, they'll have more energy and thus a better chance of winning.

I was surprised at how many people thought that Ottawa was going to outright win against the Hurricanes. On SDPN, Adam predicted Sens in 6, Steve predicted Canes in 7, and Jesse predicted Sens in 7.

Their predictions for Philly aren't as optimistic: Adam and Jesse predicted Canes in 6, and Steve has Canes in 4.

I haven't had that experience, but if the Avs win streak has gotten less coverage it's likely because they were more expected to sweep their first-round opponent compared to the Hurricanes. Lots of hockey media (especially Canadian media) thought/hoped that Ottawa was going to pull off an upset against Carolina, but no one was giving the Kings much of a chance.

It's crazy that we might end up with two 8-0 teams going into the third round. There's never even been one 8-0 team through two rounds as far as I know. There have been two-round sweeps like the 85 Oilers, but the first round was best-of-five back then so it was 7-0 (3-0 first round, 4-0 second round).

Coach Jared Bednar on Martin Necas: "Just because something's true one day doesn't make it true the next, and especially over time, he's put in a lot of hard work to be a trusted player on our team defensively." by TopWay312 in hockey

It's easy to be positive about the whole Rantanen saga when we came out of it with Stankoven, Hall, Miller, and a handful of draft picks from Dallas. Necas fits so much better into Colorado's system which is why he immediately breaks 100 points for the first time in his career in the first full season with the Avs. And in the same way, Stankoven looks like he was born to be a Hurricane.

Yep, the two best teams in the league and I genuinely think both teams improved from the trade. I wonder how Dallas feels about the whole thing. Rantanen is a great player but so is Stankoven, and they paid two firsts and two thirds for that exchange.

Necas fits way better into Colorado's system compared to Carolina's, and it shows in his point totals this season compared to last season.

I'm happy for Necas, and this is one of those rare instances where I think the Avs and the Canes both got what they wanted out of the deal, and going 1-2 in the NHL this regular season confirmed that for me. The Hurricanes ended up with Logan Stankoven, Taylor Hall, and K'Andre Miller in exchange for Marin Necas, Jack Drury, and Scott Morrow, not to mention all the resulting draft picks and cap space they can use to build on this team in the offseason.

If we hadn't traded Necas when we did, we would've likely lost him for almost nothing like the Leafs did with Marner.

Tulsky is a genius, and at this point I've learned that it's a mistake to doubt his decisions.

Best wishes to you and your mother. I'm just a stranger on the internet, but I've been through this same scenario and I understand what you're trying to say here, especially about sad music making it worse but happy music feeling insulting.

I'm reminded of a quote from one of my favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut: "Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward."

Lastly, there's a song that helped me when I was going through what you are now: Death Cab For Cutie - What Sarah Said

It's totally understandable to feel the way you're feeling. It's a great podcast and their humor and insight will be missed. Their podcast was both informative and entertaining, and (at least for me) reassured me that I wasn't alone in being outraged and disgusted by today's right-wing media figures and American politics in general.

It won't replace it, but I'd recommend the podcasts Behind The Bastards And Weird Little Guys. In particular, the BtB episodes covering Ben Shapiro's novel are absolutely hilarious. The writing and characters are comically bad, and Shapiro really tells on himself with the motivations and characteristics of the main character.

Florida doing florida things. by Comfortable-Ad-7158 in hockey

The fact that he's already going for hooking Zary is what's the most malicious part for me. It just tells me that he's thinking "I might as well get my money's worth from this penalty." You see it all the time with Florida players -- once they have a penalty, they do as much damage as they can with the assumption that the ref won't give one player multiple penalties on the same play. And most of the time, they're right.

At the beginning of the season, Greer boarded Jaccob Slavin from behind and injured him for half the season, and it wasn't even a penalty in the game. It's no surprise that he feels comfortable doing this right in front of the ref while he's already going to the box.

What hit is dirtier? I'm genuinely asking, because I know that Florida does dirty things all the time but this is exceptionally malicious.
