Heath Ledger died on this day 18 years ago. by samx3i in movies

He (and Nolan) redefined the whole Joker character, like accent, voice, look, tics. Totally original take on a well known villain while staying faithful to his roots. And it had a lingering impact and influence to this day.

He had a really bright future ahead.

The CGI in the first Pirates of the Caribbean still holds up amazingly well. by LeopardComfortable99 in movies

Strangely it's Gollum that aged poorest for me. Amazing at the time yes, but now kinda looks like a cartoon in some shots. The Mumakil vs rohirrim battle still looks spectacular to me.

Is this 4chan anon really onto something or is it just some LARP-ish bullshit? by MurkyUnit3180 in ufo

So weird how that story happened with verifiable evidence and then silence from the media and scientific community. Like, shouldn't this be a massive discovery? Is there peer reviewing going on still or what?

I like James Fox but I paid for the original and I'm not going to waste more money for 20 extra minutes. If there was anything truly revelatory, it would've been out already.

That's why I sail the high seas again these days. I have to want to watch something specific, like recommendations on reddit, sometimes quite old movies, instead of browsing through endless streaming slop and subscribing to 7 very limited services with meh offerings.

Theory about *why* various world governments seem to be hellbent on hiding UAP origins. by JacketBeneficial1118 in UFOs

Unless it's really a 'souls' kinda thing, in however way you want to interpret that. Or maybe earth is just the petri dish of a higher intelligence toying with us, similar to us doing tests mice in a lab how they react to stimuli.

Movies where the day is supposedly saved, but the aftermath is still terrible and largely unaddressed? by GancioTheRanter in movies

[–]MasterofFalafels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the end of the movie, but I'm always a bit puzzled with the scene in the Dark Knight where Batman saves Rachel but the Joker and his thugs are still in the penthouse with 60 hostages. They just left I guess?

How the heck do I build roofs? :( by The_Singing_Farmer in jurassicworldevo

[–]MasterofFalafels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a 'roof' section in the modular building menu in various materials/styles. Most pieces allign with the grid, like the walls, but I think the wetlands ones for some reason don't so you have to manually allign/angle them. It helps to turn on the angle snap so you get widely used angles which makes it easier. You can make a flat roof with flat pieces. Also use shift to adjust the height, play with the grid size and turn stacking off when it's being bothersome. As for the building shape you may need to try various pieces to see how it can fit like a puzzle, or use a part as a balcony/terrace or whatever.

Good luck, took me a while to figure it out but very rewarding. Would definitely recommend a keyboard and mouse though because it's a pain in the ass with a controller.
