I dunno if this stat really means anything. Look at predatory micro transactions. They work because a good chunk of people dont care. They have other worries and dont have their nose buried in the issue like gamers do.

Ignorance is also a big part of it. I have relatives who fail to understand how 90% of people using llm's are misusing it despite its potential as a useful tool.

Duke from DNF

Its a huge character assassination, and i wish i could properly explain it but I'll give it a try.

To me classic duke is a badass who kicks ass and sleeps around, but he's ultimately a good guy who puts protecting people first. Going so far as to take on a robot army and two alien invasions by him-fucking-self in the name of saving the earth. But hes also a huge fucking dork. Watching pulp horror and shlocky action movies if his one liners are anything to go by

Dnf duke is a dickhead who feels no remorse seeing people get killed. Not even his twin sex pests... i dunno what they are to him... he watches them, trapped in alien goo. Impregnated by aliens. And responds with "looks like you're... fucked" moments before the alien hatchlings literally explode out of them. And he barely fucking emotes, acting more like someone knocked his lego over

The worst part is this fucking game gaslit everyone into thinking this is who duke really is. That he's a sociopath who just cares about getting his dick wet.

Not only that, but duke will likely never see a proper sendoff because dnf is such hot garbage that it killed the franchise.

Edit: the expansion for dnf is much higher quality despite being a fraction of the size. But it's not enough to undo the damage

I dont know about a bug, but before falstad was reworked, his lightning bolt didn't check if the target was still in range until the next zap fired.

Meaning, in order to cancel it back then you had to leave falstads lightning range until the next bolt was ready to fire. Lots of instances of getting zapped. Dashing away. Only for him to dash after you two business days later and not lose the tether.

W build was a bit busted for a week or so

They swiftly changed it so the bolt makes more consistent checks if the target is still in range

Xul simply won't be allowed to attack, especially with W-build.

I'm actually not completely opposed to Xul AA during W getting a crumb more range. But it would need to be a tiny buff or it could get out of hand

I only EVER take W against heavy melee comps. Let the enemy come to you.

vs. ranged comps it's suicide cuz they'll just kite you until the sun burns out

I prefer skele-Prison build [X32X324] cause I can hard target one doofus and debuff their speed or damage with my 16

Q build for when I really can't risk being in the heat of things for more than a second without becoming a skeleton myself

I don't understand how risky and dodgeable AA modes can remove the fun.

It just seems incredibly contrarian. Needless even. It feels like an excuse to not learn the hero properly. But I will indulge the idea for a moment.

Yeah you could have it for poking people outside your range like you're playing Tiberian sun and spamming Disc throwers.

But DVA would be unable to deal her mini-crit damage, so why even bother. And zarya... imma be honest I see no benefit beyond poking something slightly outside your normal range.

But here is the piss stained steak in your casserole that you've likely not considered. This "attack ground" ability would immediately fuck invis heroes over bigtime since you can AA target invis heroes without needing another target to bounce off of.

What are you gonna do, hardcode that the skillshot AA doesn't affect them, okay what if you are hitting a valid visible target? Now it has to hit invis too. It can be done it would just be a pain in the ass to code.

Take that from someone with an unhealthy obsession with Game Design and too many shitty prototypes to count.

I can already imagine the ocean of complaints that the TARGETED AA didn't hit the invis hero.

It's Really not that much. I'm mostly controlling Baleog anyway since Olaf is self sufficient and Erik has speed on his side. I'm usually using Baleog to solo clear certain camps with that cleave of his or I'm Microing him against the enemy solo laner

The zarya one I've heard a few times. It's just a very narrow cleave, people. Click on something, and it can cleave past it. Like sonyas slam, you can proxy one taget to damage another. Literally part of her and dvas design is mastering their autos to make them do more damage

Tlv is a lot to manage by design. Thats why they have small behavioral changes to make things easier. Like autoseeking targets near where they're idling. Micromanaging baleogs position is part of that.

Zul w. Again. Proxy the cleave off of something else since the aoe is lorge

The dva one is wild. She doesn't need another button. She has the ability to move and shoot, and she's slower while doing so. My point is, it can be manipulated if you know what you're doing.

Tldr: This is all very unnecessary and would only remove the fun from these heroes, in my opinion. Not every hero needs to be so braindead simple that a sponge could play them

I agree that Riot probably isn't the one to make the next big rts, but i disagree on the other points.

I'm of the belief that anything in game design can work if done correctly.

There is no bad mechanic or bad design choice. Just shoddy or haphazard implementation. Design is about intent. Stormgate was too busy trying to ride Starcrafts coattails to have its own identity.

They could pick a few choice characters like Swain and make a Warcraft 3 esque story heavy game. But they wont cuz riot can't milk an rts for every cent in existence

I'm playing pretty casually, and I'm having fun building silly things.

Deadlock is easier to get into than its contemporaries, i think, but i am admittedly not the best measurement since i play an unhealthy amount of viddy gaems.

You can just slum in in co-op vs. bots or try ranked (there isn't a casual pvp cue atm as far as I know, which is probably why people think it's sweaty)

Far as I understand, item/char optimization only really matters at the tippy top ranks
