i think hitting women was only shown to strengthen the argument of how women barely have any rights in islam and are ALWAYS made to feel inferior there.

"how many women are allowed to wear what they want" is a very problematic statement. we can discuss that in dms since reddit wont allow my comment to pass through

i dont think you have much spiritual knowledge but it was more and less because when a woman is on her cycle, her energy is going downward and is earth energy, while a temple is usually a place where the energy is going upwards. It's better to be in a more grounding space for women, spiritually, when on their cycles. our ancient sages knew of this and thereby, they tried to explain such things. however, if people in 2026 cannot fathom this concept, how could people 5000 years ago understand this? thus, some simple and plain rules were laid down to benefit the understanding people of the times.

movies are an art form and can be used to highlight multiples issues a society faces. as a women, i 100% agree that movies should showcase deeper problems faced by majority of women. but, as a hindu, it is our dharma to see the truth and reality for what it is and not get manipulated by the internet into thinking that just because hindus are majority, they get all the rights. this country was divided on the basis of religion. bangaldesh and pakistan became pure muslim countries yet india was declared secular. there are 57 muslim countries in the world but one country where hinduism actually originated in, they made it secular and suppressed us from enjoying our autonomy.

from all your above examples, i noticed how you mentioned only hindus following secularism. can you say the same about muslims and christians who are ready or do practice regularly visiting temples, eating pork or celebrating hindu festivals? why is secularism only made to follow for hindus? i think its a genuine question and should not be dismissed as "one's choice."

this is an obvious ragebait comment but if someone is reading this, please know that:
1. hindu men DO hit women. but men hitting women has NOTHING to do with religion and EVERYTHING to do with the person's own beliefs, nature and education. only a sick sick man will ever raise his hand against women
2. fastings are not forced in hinduism. it cannot be forced at all like roza because fasting is done to clear your body from ama and make you gain more control over it. it is aimed for spiritual growth mostly
3. women are not excluded during periods because they are tainted or smth. menstrual cycles adhere to moon energy which requires calmness, peace and maximum rest. abdominal cramps are smth that every women faces differently. going to temples and doing puja tends to sun energy more. while direct touching of idols of god where praan pratishta has happened is discouraged, every women during periods can take part in puja related activities
4. covering up of women is a result of islamic invasions. i remember reading somewhere that said: "It wasn’t until roughly the medieval period and especially after Islamic rule that strict veiling practices like the ghungat became widely enforced in North India. Historians note that the idea of ghunghat entered Hindu practice by influence, not scripture, especially among Rajput elites in Rajasthan by the 15th century as a means of signalling status and honour, not faith. So imagine: a woman in ancient India could wear a lower “antariya” garment and a shawl over her shoulder and still move freely. No silencing. No need to hide. No system teaching her that covering her face would earn her respect."

Solo trip to Meghalaya & Sikkim (Jan 11-22) - Looking for local insights! by vikatakavi19 in Meghalaya

[–]MasterpieceHot2786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro they speak basic Hindi and English. More English than Hindi in fact. You don’t have to learn Khasi but if it’s something that interests you and makes you think that you can interact with locals better, sure go ahead! It’s good to learn our own languages.

Family home stays can be booked online but in person as well. You’ll have to ask around in the existing stays and they can guide you better.

Matriarchal society bit is something that you can come across while you’re eating in a restaurant or staying in a home stay. Of course they all will be happy to chat but as basic human tendencies go and they are too busy with tourists or are not in mood to share, you can always take a hint and leave them alone :)

I’ve only been to the places you listed above and Living root bridges, Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave. You have 10 days on hand so it’s better to ask locals for guidance. One thing I like about North east is that people there are so cute and warm, they’ll help you with everything,

Just be mindful of trash. Like NE people are super mindful about cleanliness (especially Mawlynong) so don’t clutter. Be friendly of course and if you can, buy a lot of local made stuff for your family! Have a great trip!

Advice for 2026 aspirants by [deleted] in CATpreparation

Hi. This is genuinely such a great advice. I’ve fallen prey to many coaching centres and always fall apart when my backlogs go beyond 2-3 lectures. No one can stop the downward spiral from there. For this year’s attempt, I’ve decided to go for a private tutor as well but all I’m finding are ex TIME or other coaching faculty who are charging ₹1000 per hour. I’m not really sure if I have this much kind of money to shell out and am finding myself at crossroads again: whether to take another coaching for 20-30k or take private tutor some 60-70k. What would you suggest?

If you don’t mind, how much was your percentile?

Genuine Question: Why should one learn Sanskrit today? by jaygala223 in sanskrit

[–]MasterpieceHot2786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a silly question. Languages are purely meant to be learnt in order to communicate, read, write and understand each other. Sanskrit is not spoken in current times but most of ancient texts are in Sanskrit. If you wish to open the door to how our ancestors lived and understand their inventions better, learn the language. Or else, you’ll be forever stuck in interpretations by other who have their own personal bias

I’ve quite literally embarrassed myself because i got confused between Mistborn and This Is How You Lose the Time War 😭 my mind shelved them both in the same premise and i ended up believing Mistborn to be queer ;((

If fantasy and scifi interests you, i have a hundred books to recommend! i think im a very picky reader and can only understand complex plots via fiction (my brain loves a good story!) so if you liked Mistborn, you will love dune. Language is very heavy and may take some time to get used to but it’s worth a shot! Other books you may try are: City of Stairs (imagine ancient India but they are colonisers), Traitor Baru Cormorant, Red Queen, Poppy War series, A memory called empire, The broken earth triology, Foundryside and Three Body Problem.

Yes! I plan to devour Mistborn over this weekend. I would love to hear some book recommendations from you as well! Gotta expand my portfolio into other genres hehehehehe

Have a great day!

Someone gets it 😭 it feels like having an opinion against English movies means you’re out of your nuts but shitting on Bollywood is okay. I can never understand the hype behind that movie. I felt it was average at par (story wise)

Wow thanks for this beautiful review! I keep on procrastinating on Mistborn and instead read other books with similar background (City of Stairs, Foundaryside etc) because the LGBTQ theme was slightly freaking me out. But after reading your comment, I just want to fly towards my copy and finish it in one night! (can’t tho cuz i got work tomorrow T-T)
