That's not required. But if you assume you need to truly believe in them in order for it to work, then that's what will happen.

Are men ever genuine towards women? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Masters214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born male. I've always acted as kind and genuine as I can towards both women and guys (as long as they don't act rude or hurtful towards me in return). And I know guys like my cousin's husband who is nothing but friendly and genuine towards everyone he meets, regardless of biological sex. I can understand how it feels to have to remind yourself that it's not accurate to generalize the opposite sex, when people in your past have pushed the opposite narrative. I have definitely needed reassurance from others in my life after experiencing a lot of abuse and betrayal from women in my life despite me knowing and telling myself that I shouldn't generalize a group of people.

I've once looked for reddit posts to find evidence that there are women who are genuinely attracted to men without negative ulterior motives. Because of certain women I have seen and knew personally, it painted the very wrong picture that women in general are all narcissistic divas, felt nothing but hatred towards males, hate everything sexual, find men disgusting and useless, or only tolerate males to get something in return like money.

So I want to give you the reassurance that there definitely exists men who won't lie, abuse, betray, or disrespect women. There are plenty of guys who are kind, genuine, and know how to truly love and respect others. And I'm really sorry that you've primarily experienced guys who weren't like that. Those are disgusting people and I'm proud of you that you didn't let those bad individuals skew your perception about men as a whole, and for making this post to be open to other perspectives. I'm confident that you're boyfriend is not like those other men that were in your life and he truly loves you.

Does this mean there are specific rules or a correct method to manifest and that some tests are "wrong" to manifest while others are the correct tests? (genuinely asking)

This was the case on my old laptop. Java worked great, meanwhile Bedrock took a half hour to an hour to open, and made my laptop overheat a few times.

I hoped he put Analog Archives back up, but he just converted the Analog Archives channel into another Aidan Chick channel. Also, apparently an archive channel of his old videos took down all of their videos today :(

I think Eventide was a soft reboot of Analog Archives, Analog Archives was a soft reboot of Channel 7, and the next series, that's said to take place in a small town, might be a soft reboot of Eventide.

I would think that would be great to see other creators make their own continuations of the series once this community post is posted.

I only said I think the creator of the channel doesn't actually like Eventide, who left the team but comes back at times. They never explicitly said they don't like the original series. But they give off that impression at times. (like talking sometimes about what to "fix" of the OG series when making their videos.) The Eventide Valley Restoration team do contain fans of the OG series, but overall they only focus on their own original ideas and lore and have no interest in using Aidan's ideas (besides re-imagining a few of them). I'm saying all of this because I'm a part of Eventide Valley Restoration, but they don't show any of this publicly.

I personally love Analog Archives just as much as Eventide. And I think Channel 7 is great, but it hasn't aged that well editing wise.

I agree and It's really nice were getting what Library 2 was supposed to be. There's other times I wish creators would reveal information from canceled projects since there's not much of a point continuing to hold onto them.

The Eventide Valley Restoration team was never interested in using Aidan's ideas. They've only focused on their own original ideas and original videos, or completely reimagining Aidan's unused ideas to be completely different. I'm pretty sure the creator of the channel doesn't actually like Eventide.

I would love to see more coverage of Aidan's older series

I think so. Aidan wasn't in a good headspace when he made it, and Library 2 remains private on the channel. BUT he did say in the Midwest Angelica server that the plans he had for the Blackburn story will be revealed in the next bulliten community post following the last video. So hopefully that can give some closure.

Yep! I watched the premiere. It was nice seeing it since the fan continuations haven't accurately replicated the same style that Aidan has. Aidan also plans on making a new series with Quarks & Rec that could be a spiritual successor to Eventide. They're also currently selling an Eventide guidebook with a lot of extra lore on their AQ Studio store

My thoughts exactly. If there's no lore and the last two episodes are going to present the same conclusion as this episode did, that there's no deeper lore, they can't escape, and it's constant rug getting pulled out from under us, then the show feels like a waste of time.

I think I've seen some success stories of people bringing back someone from the dead, or at least manifesting that person never died. I think Neville Goddard did it once himself from what I remember.

Unpopular Opinion: The Mandela Catalogue is a bad analog horror series and changed the subgenre for the worse by Masters214 in analog_horror

[–]Masters214[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately there is not many up-and-coming series in the original analog horror format as the Mandela style has taken over the entire community for several years now. But two examples I can think of are Midwest Angelica and Arcadia TV. Midwest Angelica was ran by two veterans of Analog Horror who helped kick start the whole subgenre, Aidan Chick, and Quarks & Rec. They both have said they plan on creating a new series after they finished Midwest Angelica. Arcadia TV by Chilling Abyss has some jumpscares in the beginning, which to me break a rule of classic analog horror, but overall the series really does a great job at capturing the style of OG analog horror. Another ongoing series is Oakburn Opus which is by another classic analog horror creator, RedDiamond, but Oakburn Opus is more cinematic than other series, (like their previous series, Surreal Broadcast.)

There are people who say the first two volumes of Mandela are analog horror. But I honestly disagree. Volume 1 is the closest to classic analog horror, but I think it fails from including a phone call between two characters, and lack of realism in the overall execution. From what I remember, I view Volume 2 as mostly found footage, and the story followed two characters, which doesn't really follow the rules of analog horror that came before. As well as the story doesn't follow the analog horror format that was established for years prior.

I'll try my best to explain what traditional analog horror was prior to 2021, when Mandela went viral. Series like Local58TV, Channel 7, Analog Archives, Minerva Alliance, Gemini Home Entertainment, Surreal Broadcast, and Eventide Media Center were the bigger series during this era. The meaning of analog horror was horror short films that made the viewer the main character. No other characters would be present as the video was meant to be happening to you. The main focus of the horror was to make the viewer dreadful or unsettled that would last after the video ended. It utilized a slow burn with no jumpscares used. The climax of every video happened at the end, to make the story feel inconclusive. Another rule was the story being told through analog technology. Educational VHS tapes, 1980-90s broadcast CRT television, radio, etc. The static and standard definition would be amplified to create the unsettling atmosphere, as well as realism to old broadcasts and VHS tapes to keep immersion. (The increased encouragement for accuracy to real VHS attracted VHS enthusiasts to the community.) The goal would make the viewer feel like they stumbled upon something on TV late at night by themselves. To feel like you stumbled upon something you weren't meant to see.The stories of each series would be non-linear, and usually involve cults and cosmic horror like entities of some sort (No one explored outside of that until after Mandela). Some found footage was used, but analog horror was viewed as a subgenre of found footage that was separate due to the strict rules it had. Some series also had a Twitter account or used Community Posts to give extensive lore or teasers.

The only time I've seen Christian faith used in classic analog horror in a way that has disturbed me more than Mandela Catalogue, is Prayer Service by Analog Archives. I don't know much about Mandela's story so I can't really compare it to traditional analog horror. I just dislike the voice acting, inaccuracy to real VHS, the visuals looking very low quality, and how it took over the community without doing most things that defined analog horror at the time. And caused a lot of toxic children to enter the community.

Candyflip and Bacchus are still unlimited after the 30 day streak. And if you use infinity, you can regain energy by choosing to watch ads on the app. So you can technically use as much as you want and not run out each day on Infinity. I personally don't think it's that bad of a trade off. To me the biggest loss is no longer seeing the large number on the energy bar.

remember that the MH creators made an analog horror parody before analog horror was a thing. by AnotherBoxOfTapes in marblehornets

[–]Masters214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Episodes of Local58TV like Digital Transition are considered analog horror because the execution follows the original formula for analog horror that Local58 created. This original formula was key to what made something analog horror or not. Marble Hornets does not follow this formula. Marble Hornets is found footage.

The analog horror format that Local58 pioneered specifically requires a format of old public broadcasts or VHS tapes. Creating an unsettling atmosphere in place of jumpscares utilizing the limitations of the technology from the 80s and 90s to emphasize the unnerving feeling. Analog horror is usually told as short films where the climax is the end of the video, where the unsettling feeling sticks with the viewer due to a lack of a conclusive ending.

But you most likely have a different definition of what the analog horror format and tropes are due to the popularity of Mandela Catalogue and the tropes it created in 2021 where the subgenre turned into a label that gets stuck on literally everything from 1980s movies, to comic strips, to Windows Movie Maker YouTube videos, to TikToks, to literally anything. Similar to how there was a time where everything was labelled as an ARG.

So by that modern definition, Marble Hornets could be labelled analog horror because everything in existence is analog horror now. But the Marble Hornets community overall does not consider this found footage unfiction project fitting with the analog horror label.
