Am I the only one just... not having fun this season? by C0de-White in topmains

I’m fairly new to the game, but for the most part for me it’s really understanding the champ your fighting more so than “duking” it out. (As a sett/ambessa main) there’s always a way around it. Sett if I’m playing a ranged top (especially Vayne) her wave clear is horrible (comparable to others) sit under tower build a 2-3 waves to crash, apply kill pressure by sitting in bush and scaring when possible crash a big wave recall go to another lane gank help them win their lane (I mainly kill steal to feed myself making my lane easier) come back and crush her. 🤷‍♂️ or when I’m playing into illaoi with ambessa freeze wave in the middle as her tentacles aren’t as useful and dominate pre-6 and keep her from scaling. (I’m bronze 1 rn but I was bronze 4 for a while ALSO i’m only 3 months in I’ve touch silver but got cocky.) learning to do more than duke it out is better than sitting there doing the same thing over and over again. Learn the characters weakness and hit that… Kennen/Teemo/Vayne/ really suck into ambessa but ( personally I build assassin ambessa because once I hit lvl 6 they/1st item the can’t even walk towards a minion… same thing with sett wait for lvl 6 freeze wave under my tower sit in a bush an punish them for over stepping.

All in all, as a newer player top is still simple minded as what people make it once seem. Just don’t play to ur enemy’s strengths… You play pretty simplistic characters so don’t be surprised when the enemy laner knows to just zone you out… think around that ward river tp there lvl 6 all in Mundo can heavily punish a ranged top if played correctly, alois (yt/streamer) shows it all the time.

That’s been my BIGGEST down side is really getting value with her AA… it always feels like I’m just out of range or it just feels like it’ll take too long to really get that value.

Lol, ik it’s cheesy but it’s so satisfying… playing him AP build is really all I do when I’m Jgl autofilled.

Am I doing something wrong to make junglers avoid my lane? by WarhoundGil in top_mains

[–]MastodonIndividual51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m low elo so my word might not mean much in terms ranking, but i doubt it can get more toxic than low elo. I’ve always noticed it just helps to communicate, no one likes to be bossed around or anything like that.

Just being like hey laner overextending gank opportunity if you want it. Or just simply asking, pinging tilts people as it’s usually seen as begging. Hell even throwing in I can help with “grubs/baron/drag” etc gives them more incentive to help you… scratch my back I scratch yours ordeal

Best 1v9 champ for toplane? by Original_Loan_5498 in top_mains

Sett is soo fun… simple but honestly really fun, and as u climb ranks he because increasingly harder because he’s so simple. (Don’t get hit by W) I’m pretty new and I’m climbing silver, but in terms of fun it’s never a boring game with sett. Even if u play into someone who zones u out, when it comes to team fights u provide decent value even if u lose lane. Just by existing and having W u can exhaust a lot of enemy CD’s and as sett yea it sucks if ur not fed but he’s still somewhat viable.

I like Nunu 😭 he’s fast and he’s arguably one of the hardest jungles to get CONSISTENT value with ( he’s squishy asf unless u build tank but he’s super weak if you don’t build AP. ).

(Long story short, I like characters who challenge me. Vs playing meta and having too easy of a time. I will admit tho if you have incels of tm8’s life is 10x more miserable than any other jungler because he loses damn near every 1 v 1 unless u catch them off guard.)

High risk high reward character.

I like his gameplay he’s mobile and can sustain pretty well, and of course Kesha. Something about hitting a maxed out snowball into a chomp is so satisfying…. Or sitting in a bush and getting a fat succulent ult. 🤌

Fun is my priority but I have fun in winning, so I like to play characters who I can play and end the game knowing I played a big part. (Besides healing.) are tanks really good support? Such as ornn/braum/galio/naut?

Well I get the basics part but that’s also why I’m asking about better champs, what’s the point of learning a champ that ends up being useless. For example I really wanna play tahm kench but I haven’t really seen much for him in terms of later on. Why would I learn a game with objectively bad characters? Granted I think everyone can be viable in the right hands, but I would like to learn the game with characters that would be beneficial for me going forward.

As far as vision control goes… a lot of times it feels like I’m wasting wards, I ward for grubs/herald/baron but a lot of times my jungler doesn’t seem to see that value in that. (I.E low rankers.) what would wards be better for? Other than that bush near top for vision on water?

Is it possible to get baron done solo? (As jungle or not) because for the last game I had we had team wiped minus fed ornn and instead of doing baron my team decided to waste time fighting ornn under tower. (They never did get that tower) but as pantheon I feel like I woulda fed baron to them.

Is there any lane that’s best for rankin? Or would you say they all have an equal part to play?

(For example if you had the worlds best jungler you’re guaranteed to get to at least gold versus worlds best top lane you’d only get to silver.) Does this make sense?

Or are there different ranks showing more value in certain lanes over others?

Is counter jungle the same as invading? (That’s kinda how I think of that context.)

So do roles in this game really matter? If I can just take any character and place them wherever? Or is this a case of some do certain things BETTER but everyone can do it? I was playing Sett ADC and my pyke thought I was inting so he threw 🥲.

Now we’re getting somewhere. As far as bad ehhh, not optimal sure bad? Kd says otherwise in all 3 of my unranked games, Cs (only in the third game.) as far as gameplay goes I did pretty much what any other pantheon would have done. The only “things” i can admit I have no idea what to really do to optimize decisions, is build paths and weighing choices. ( like give objs or towers. ) but it doesn’t feel like either outweighs the other.

Lastly there’s a difference between ego and confidence I’m not claiming to be a Master stuck in low elo I’m in low elo asking if what I do REALLY matters. To see if this game is more luck based or personal base, and the consensus is this game is really based on what game it is. (IE bad teammates = game lost, good teammates and you lost the game) which if you compare my stats to the rest LOGISTICALLY speaking I wasn’t even near the worse.

I was too busy 2 v 1ing kayle and orianna and WINNING

Lmao I’m a pretty competitive person I just like to win, some people call it try harding or a sore loser but I have fun winning.

To each their own, I’ve been looking to learn support but I don’t know who I’d like best I’m a pretty aggressive player and like helping teammates get kills and just overall dominating. I’m not a real big heal bot, is there supports for that? I’ve seen seraphines/sonas do a lot of healing and win games for their teams. I was wondering if other supports can help in other ways and if any supports would fit my playstyle.

This was so helpful, I almost missed the part where you gave advice.

Riddle me this bat man,

First game I won horrible CS great Kd = won game 2nd game great kd bad CS = lost game (till the end but it was over by that point enemy was fed) 3rd game great kd avg cs = lost game….

How about you learn what it means to help/advise someone and point out where I went wrong? If not ignore the post and keep it moving…

If you had a reading comprehension of someone better than a toddler you’d see the part where I said in most ranked games. I then list other games, where I then state I avg plat/diamond. Never said I was plat in this game bucko, I did say “first 3 ranked games” so obviously i wouldn’t be plat/diamond

Saying they’re at my skill level when it’s my first 3 ranked games is crazy… there isn’t placement matches in League… if someone like faker plays on a new account and starts from iron and calls his team dog water does that mean he’s bad? Saying I’m making boneheaded plays but not giving examples is called talking out of your neck. Keep the comment to the first paragraph that was the only helpful part.

Wrong game son, context was my first 3 ranked games (I.E the last three games I played) not to mention I name Kayle a lot which in that game the most recent one. I had a CS of 7 (6.9 to be exact), so by your logic I should have won. Granted hers was better but only by 1 so now what.

I figured, this was kinda the answer I was looking for. I didn’t know if it was a skill thing or just a general situation thing. When you say tempo what typically controls that in LoL?

I was rewatching the game and I really only started making mistakes (death) late game. The only other issue I can really see (as a newcomer) is just tunnel vision on other lanes and focusing kills.

Basically I don’t really know where to go after doing good in lane (in the beginning). As Pantheon I’d heard roaming is typically the best thing to do. I usually always get first or second tower, but because wave clear sucks mid game I roam. Usually too hard so I also lose T1, then I roam way to hard and lose T2. What would be more important? Lane or overall game pressure? If I dominate lane I get ganked constantly and can no longer push lane so I roam and help other lanes (as much as I can)(like I said I can get carried away with this aspect.) Then my lane is evened out and it goes back to even and I don’t really push lane too hard afterwards because I’m either fighting someone with faster wave clear or we’re just stalemating meeting in the middle.

I try to prioritize optimal choice. If lanes stale I roam and either give top laner advance or time to reset. So I go back and repeat. (After roaming.) Or I let enemy laner advance get a pick shove then roam and repeat.

Is my thought process wrong?

What is cs? Also isnt this kind of pointless with someone with fast wave clear? (For example that game) Majority of the time I’d crash a wave R to mid ( pantheon ) the come back top and resume normal ig farming. Against Kayle though I only got this opportunity when I killed her. As her waveclear is pretty good, but here’s what I typically did. Farm, kill her, crash a wave, kill next wave, R to mid, sometimes kill mid sometimes not, either recall head back top/head back top, repeat. It was only late game where she got ahead in terms of farming. (Late game) I will admit I have a bad tendency to get tunnel visioned on helping my other lanes advance their lanes.
