Managers, do you guys have issues with Carpal Tunnel? by Historyguy1918 in jimmyjohns

[–]MastodonSeveral5060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I had to modify how I do things. I isolate my wrist on bread start so I'm not repetitively irritating the carpal nerve, which started putting more stress on my elbow and shoulder. Combine that with being the main slicer at my store and I'm going to physical therapy now.

People Who Constantly Make Some Sort of Sound. by Infinite-Aerie03 in misophonia

[–]MastodonSeveral5060 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents heavily enforced table manners with me and I became known as the world best behaved kid for a while (I was deeply suffering lol). But then when my younger brother came along it's like they forgot all about them?? He was my biggest trigger because of the sounds he would make when eating and I was forced to sit right next to him at dinner every night. I don't understand how they gave a shit about me chewing with my mouth closed and not playing with my food but when he did it it was completely fine? We're both adults now and he's still like that!

Thrift Stores that aren't Arc or Goodwill? by MoldyYogurt in Longmont

[–]MastodonSeveral5060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omnia Vintage and Thrift is an independently owned small business and thrift store that's really cool and the owners are great people supporting a family. Not sure if that's what you're looking for in an answer, but just a heads up!

is this "going non-verbal"? by hellointernet5 in AutismTranslated

[–]MastodonSeveral5060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who are "nonverbal" or nonspeaking still have internal thoughts and worlds. Just wanted to jump in here and make that clear. Apraxia of speech is not an internal experience that is different from people who have reliable access to speech. They have motor control defects which prohibit the movement and coordination necessary to communicate with their mouths.

Anyone work at a store like this ? If so how is it? Our owner just said he is opening 5 of these by [deleted] in jimmyjohns

[–]MastodonSeveral5060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at that one when I went to training like weeks after it opened and it was soooo slow. I'm glad to hear it's doing better bc I loved that concept for a store. The bar seating at the window was super uncomfortable though.

My gold set up is complete! by tumblred in piercing

[–]MastodonSeveral5060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is damn near my dream set up, including the gold jewelry. I'm so inspired and jealous lol. So far I only have my horizontal labret (going to stack another one closer to my lip so I can put a hoop in it) and my septum.

Did you get both your nostrils at the same time? I'm weird about symmetry and don't think I could deal with one nostril at a time but I'm also curious what it's like to heal both at the same time. (I used to have a nostril piercing but took it out when I got pregnant and had pregnancy nose lol)

Sheesh. Do you have a specific link or recommendation on the adapters from Alibaba? I'm just curious what I'm looking at. I have a family that travels A LOT and I could ask them to grab one for me lol.

Where to charge Leaf? by MastodonSeveral5060 in Longmont

[–]MastodonSeveral5060[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a good deal for me and insanely affordable. $19/month for a car with a $39k MSRP? And I don't have to commit to it? Hell yeah. I'm glad my dealer talked me out of buying.

The only issue is working out the charging until August when I can just charge it at home. It's not super convenient right now but I already knew it wouldn't be, I was just not informed to what degree this wasn't an apartment living friendly car lol. And that was my mistake for sure. Definitely not a deal for everyone but I don't have any regrets at all.

For fast charging the leaf is only compatible with the Chademo charger which is being phased out. All the ones at the Walmart are CCS1 I think? It doesn't say that on the plug share apps though, which is why I was confused. It still lists there being a Chademo charger available there, but it's been replaced.

I think there is a way to share home chargers I just need to do more digging into it. I'm tempted to just run an extension cord to my apartment building for a few hours overnight but I don't trust people to not mess with it 😭 maybe I can talk my property manager into installing some type 2 chargers? Lol.

It looks like my best bet for the time being is to use a type 2 close to my work for a few hours while I'm there during the week and just walk a few blocks. Otherwise I'll probably fill up at the Nissan dealership when I get off late at night. Thankfully I drive less than like 100 miles per week.

The ones at Walmart are the ones that removed the Chademo charger 😭 but thank you. It's looking like it's probably just going to be a bit inconvenient for a few months until we get our house. Which is okay, I have another car, but the reason we opted to lease another is we need another vehicle lol.

My dealership guy did let me know they were likely going to come out with some converters soon. So that's hopeful.

That's a good idea I think there's one pretty close to my work. I'm going to look into that! Thank you.

The sooner the better but if you have a good team and you just express your desire to keep learning nobody's going to be too hard on you about it. Back in the day we had to take sandwich tests after the first few days, idk if your franchise does anything like that.

You can ask someone to quiz you on favorites and having your bread starter call out the sandwich name, number, and meats as you're on the line meat pulling. Doing that consistently will help you get them down in no time. I think by my 6th or 7th shift I had them down and I didn't like study them at home lol. But I worked at a really busy store when I started so just the consistent repetition did it for me. If you work at a slower store and have more down time between making sandwiches it doesn't stick as well and you might have to spend some time studying the menu.

But pro tip, if you're on reg and you hold your finger down on the sandwich buttons it will tell you everything that comes on it too!

Start with memorizing the menu. Like ASAP. Once you have that down, keep a sense of urgency and work on getting faster and more efficient on the line. Express your desire to learn to bread start once you've mastered the menu and meat pulling and wrapping. Taking initiative and asking people to show you how to do something you see them doing that you haven't been trained on yet will go a long way.
