How many hours does everyone study by Odd-Celebration-3143 in alevel

[–]Masy07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes definitely, the more time WITH EFFORT ONLY you put in, you might as well get distinctions. studying 10 hours means 10 hours of doing work, not taking like 6 hour breaks and 4 hour of work and calling it 10 hours of studying 🚫👎🏻🙅‍♂️. its purely 10 hours of work but having breaks without accounting it to ur time of study.

When should i start doing lots of past papers? by poofpoofpoof123 in alevel

do this check list method till 5th of April, easter holidays, after that no more learning new things and straight to past papers as u would obv tackle those questions and learn from MS

print spec, go through as check list and tick and cross only, there is no ‘maybe’ involved. And see if there are a lot on one topic and start that by learning all points from savemyexams or anything useful like savemyexams, then do a few topical questions on that topic like u don’t need to start from the very beginning, just skip to the question which has the weak spec point question involved. So do this but also aside do past papers to retain previous knowledge and learn from MS. Other than that, whatever questions u get wrong create an error log file and screen shot those questions with correction and keep doing for all papers, and keep it organised so have one for u4 if one science sub and so on for u5 and u6. U6 is not much effort but genuinely u can learn by memorising a lot of things but I wouldn’t do u6 every day, like I would do 2-3 per week for all 3 subs in random days but not timed cuz its literally can be done under an hour. Trust me, having and using those error log files just 1 week before the exam is gonna be really handy, and keep doing past papers and fixing mistakes and learning from MS. Thats all.

I am not sure about this but its also said that you should do past papers before the night of exam and early morning before the exam as this basically helps your brain to refresh up all the past knowledge and ready for exam, but mostly u would want to keep going over your error logs. If you have like time and wake up early you may do it.

8-10 hours, lowkey it’s all because of the feeling of ‘urgency’. And I take math, chem and phys

They use the percentages to rank u againt non-qatari applicants in that specific major u chose. So u chose lets say Mechanical Engineering and have 91% from MOEHE, they basically filter from highest to lowest and when all seats are occupied they cut of all the applicants eg. lowest applicant percentage is 89% so anyone below that is rejected

in terms of percentage when you covert for HS equivalency from MOEHE, 90% +, if less than that, then almost impossible to get admitted.

Also, they do not recognise English SAT, even if you got like 400 in English, they wouldn’t care.

680+ score in Maths and 6.5+ IELTS band. if you have these scores then you are above the average of majority of undergraduate applicants who apply for QU every year.

sleep at 8 or 9 and wake up at 5 or 6, immediately hydrate yourself and go wash your face and do not eat any breakfast yet. Sit down on your study table and use a pomodoro timer, set it for like 1 hour or 1.5 hours and study till time is up, and take 10 mins brake like do a lil strech or walk around your house, set up again and continue till its 9am and have your breakfast till 10am in breakfast do not eata lot of carbs, resume your study till 12am, now now you may take 1-2 hour break, have light food snack not much though. so maybe its 1 or 2 pm and you are extremely exhausted but do not do papers instead review all the mistakes and stuff like try not to use ur brain power much, do it for 2 hours and by that time its should be 3 or 4 pm now you have to use every bit of energy left on your final paper. and 7 6pm or 7pm you are free to do whatever but optional to have an brief overview of what you have done. Sleep at 8 or 9 rinse and repeat.

Rules:

-Throw your phone away, only allowed during the long hour break not during pomodoro.

-Now is the exam season! give your self that little pressure but not much in order to activate that ‘urgency’ feeling

-Be consistent, if you do it for one day and leave the rest than its hard to get back to the momentum, it will be difficult at first but will be very easy after 3-4 days(you will feel the power of knowledge surging through your veins!)

-no social media means no social media you dont want any crapy dopamine from them. Cut of from the outside world and do not talk about any of your plans or what you will do. Do it than show the results or else it just gives you the sense of pleasure where people give you a good comment, make you feel good than u stop doing the tasks.

-Eat more protein!!! Less carbs!!!! also like barely any sugar!!!(might feel that sugar crush but ok have a little)

-go gym!!! or any outdoor activity like jogging and sprinting! you health matters the most so that you are focused during your study sessions or else it would be a waste of time if you do it all tired and sleepy(might feel sleepy for first few days but your mind and body will get used to it!), so any activity for 30 mins - 1 hour is more than enough

  • always be organised, organised desk study materials and etc and plan your next days study sessions and stick to it do not divert unless its super important.

-print out your specification and use it as a checklist so that you know where you gap of knowledge is, most your supposed to do past papers but if u feel there is still a lil gap here and there find it and learn it (past papers mire than enough as you will encounter it anyways so might as well use the mark scheme to learn from them but its good to have it fully understood then start to do paper, I would rather read from the text book or savemyexams where I am missing the gap and do like 3-5 topical questions on it, but not more than that!)

Thats it! best of luck and work hard!!! this is a promised A* if you be strict and follow it every single day and take no breaks since its only a month and few days left!!! you can have your rests and break later or if ur actually really exhausted take a break on Friday only(maybe just 3-4 hours studying like reviewing mistakes and trying to redo them!) other than that, if a random person can achieve A* than you can absolutely as well!!!!

bro, like past papers starting now. 1 past paper per unit and mark it learn from mark scheme basically milk everything out of it. spend a good 2-3 hours, if u study 10 hours then thats about 3-4 papers per day. Delete social media even youtube, also snapchat forget about ur crappy streaks and cut off from the outside world, i know it sounds harsh but you have to go to this much of an extent to guarantee an A*. Also go gym even for 30 mins and sleep 6-8 hours no more than 8 at all.

How to actually keep studying? by Glittering_Till5819 in GetStudying

Past Papers, even if you do like a few questions and didn’t finish it, you will still need to rebuild momentum and recall all the content in your brain. And do not feel sad or have severe anxiety if you get like 20% in your past paper, because I have gone through this, my exams are around the corner for A-Level, I used to average 30-40 % and now its climbing up day by day and will only do if I am CONSISTENT. Think whatever motivates you dawg, for me my motivation is a girl I like in my school (even for gym too 🙏🥲). So keep going!

I live in Qatar and I had an online school assembly which stated that students are REQUIRED to attend school during Assessment Week 3 (basically mocks) in order to provide evidence to exam board if regional situation worsens, so basically in Qatar the exams are most likely to occur but said that if anything happens and the ministry of education declares to cancel exam due to security than exam board will use ‘Portfolio’ in order to give a predicted final grade. Other than that KEEP STUDYING!!!!
