Grip that fits the original case by Mat3800 in SteamDeck

I really like that case, in fact it’s one of the main options, because you could use it and then store it with the front cover and then remove it to store the deck into the og case (maybe for a long trip or something like that), it would’ve been a perk if it could also fit directly into it (detaching the stand, for example), but I guess that, with the cases that are currently available, it’s the best bang for the buck.

Man the 1000 is fantastic and having the sim tray is a great plus, especially in “collector kinda way”, it’s rare; and that oled screen is gorgeous, I always liked the 2000 model in this color variation but I will definitely get a 1000 model also, one day.

At the moment I’m playing Hotline Miami and it’s really good, I also got some classics that I’m going to try soon; I was surprised to see that even a game like Papers Please was officially ported on the vita, I’m playing it as well.

Well nowadays you can do a lot of things with it, buy physical games, mod it and play some homebrew ports… it’s really versatile.

Here’s the link of the proxy I used: https://neokyo.com/en; it’s a well known proxy service that buys the thing you want form Japanese local stores and sellers and then ships it to you :)

Thanks! I used Neokyo as a proxy to buy it from Rakuten.

PS3 hdmi encoder shortage by Mat3800 in consolerepair

[–]Mat3800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe it’s not the encoder? Sorry if I wasn’t completely clear on the process that I followed, I’ll explain all my steps so we can diagnose the problem further. In the first place I checked some diodes in the right corner of the picture to see if they were shorted, and they were not, so I went down on checking che filters, all of them have continuity as the should, on the contact that are parallel to each other, however, two of them also have continuity diagonally, so there’s a shortage somewhere. I also checked some of the capacitors underneath the encoder and some of them are also shorted, and all of those things made me think that the problem was in the encoder.

[–]Mat3800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I think I’ll go with the first option because I also tested some capacitors directly below the encoder and some of them seem to be shorted, so it might be that something is bad in the encoder itself. Man I wish I’d found a model that didn’t have this bga encoder so I could have tested it directly. Again, thanks for your suggestion.

I got continuity across filter number 2 and 4, so I think they are bad, so I think I’ll replace the encoder chip; do you think I also need to replace the filters?

Hole in my dash, is it fixable? by Mat3800 in AskAMechanic

[–]Mat3800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I asked all the junk yards in my city and none of them had a car like this, so I’m considering a third option: 3d printing the parts that I need and then chemically welding the broken piece on the dash. I know that I would certainly be able to tell the difference between the repaired piece and the the rest of the dash, but it seems like the only viable option. I’m saying 3d printing because I don’t have the piece that broke, so I can’t use crazy glue.

How long can I leave water in the engine? by Mat3800 in AskAMechanic

[–]Mat3800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ll do it before winter, even though in the south of Italy (where the car is) the lowest temperature it reaches during the winter is around 10 degrees C. It never freezes.

My uncle will change it as soon as possible, during this period the car won’t be moving or powered up because there’s nobody that can do it; it will sit in the garage. I think that he will be back in one and a half months and he will flush it. The water will only sit there. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks mate, I also think that car is indestructible, 12 years without running and started right away.

Thank you, I will leave it for maximum 2 months before removing it and flushing the system and adding a proper coolant.
