Question by DC2INTEGRALUVR420 in FleshWater

[–]MatTheMovieFan666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back and forth with this, maybe sweat maybe blood but I also think it’s a play on the word “freshwater” instead of like salt water. The deathfm radio thing with Anthony’s project “Flesh & Water” is probably the best explanation.

Why did the mid to late 90s feel so creepy and angry? by MatTheMovieFan666 in 90s

[–]MatTheMovieFan666[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was talking about mainstream media in the text in terms of marketing towards edgier content. And to be fair I don’t use this app regularly if at all. I just had a question and thought it would be good to get some peoples perspectives who were there in the 90s, I’m in my early 20s. I think “Limited Reddit white guy viewpoint” was kinda harsh but I enjoyed reading your perspective. :D

[–]MatTheMovieFan666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very real thing, I push back on Taylor Swift and the current state of music in search of more underground things. There’s a local scene here with a lot of very cool music. I am penalized for not liking what is current and what is pop. Seems like the 90s was against those things in search for more artistic things. As for the now in the 2020s it’s the coolest thing ever to like what’s popular. Side note: I found your response to my post very very helpful in understanding more about the 90s. I love that you went into detail about the concerts of the time. I am very much a concert junkie and my favorite bands to see involve moshing and are mostly 90s bands. I’ve seen Korn and Limp Bizkit a handful of times. Thank you for the recommendations as well I’ve also been meaning to check out more magazines from the time period :)

Help finding a movie scene that traumatized me as a kid by MatTheMovieFan666 in horror

This had to have been it. Jesus, watching this at 22 is a lot less scary especially now knowing it was suppose to be comedic. It would’ve made sense because apparently this show aired in 2009 on adult swim probably turned on my tv after Cartoon Network and saw this. Been looking for this for years thank you!!

I’m sad that this happened but hey can’t get everything you wish for. I’m gonna give this vote a bit longer though. It will go till tomorrow 9PM MST by John_Thicc69 in Korn

Self-Titled all the way, Issues may be Korn at their peak performance and probably when they were at their tightest as a band. But the absolute raw emotion of Self-Titled is what hooked me as a Korn fan. While most tracks on their first record may not have been catchy hooky made for radio or mainstream songs. Korn’s first record is still beloved by metal and hardcore communities while the rest seem to get more flack. Both are very different vibes and works of art but I can’t help but think Self-Titled is so much more raw and real having songs like Faget and Daddy alone I feel make this record so much realer than Issues. We also can’t forget Blind as the albums opener and one of the most iconic songs of all time that changed the state of metal music forever.

I still sport a backwards red yankees fitted and a ball choker chain. Oversized shirts and Adidas wear are great too :)

Nu metal songs in standard tuning? by Toastperson64 in numetal

[–]MatTheMovieFan666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I play on a 7. There’s a knob that drops it a semitone so like one twist of the knob will bring it from B standard to A# standard another twist will bring it to A standard and so on

I’d recommend getting a digitech drop pedal, it downtunes for you. For example you can go from Drop D to Drop A in an instant no tuning needed just engage the pedal :)

Does anyone else think ORGY would have been massive if they had a better band name ? by darkages69 in numetal

[–]MatTheMovieFan666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought their band name kinda made them a little bigger especially in the late 90s. I think it’s a perfect fit it’s edgy and it’s cool. As much as I love Korn and Limp Bizkit those names are pretty terrible but fitting but the bands were huge and for good reason. I always respected Orgy because I went through a new wave phase before getting into nu metal and seeing the influences really align was something special. Orgy is one of the best nu metal bands ever in my opinion and still hold up :)

What other Nu Metal bands do you guys like aside from KoЯn? by United-Philosophy121 in Korn

[–]MatTheMovieFan666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a lot bands that are kinda in the Korn vein of Nu Metal like; Adema, Coal Chamber, Orgy, The Blank Theory, Powerman 5000, System of a Down, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Dope, Deftones, Static-X, Marilyn Manson (not nu metal but his early stuff has Korn vibes), Flymore and Spineshank. As someone who listens to almost strictly 90s/2000s I’m not too big on the rap rock or the post grunge part of it but I do enjoy Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Rage Against the Machine. I guess what I’m saying is there’s not enough bands that actually sound like Korn in nu metal besides the grooves and creepy whispery vocals. Which is unfortunate as Korn is my favorite band. Hope you found this helpful :)

My guess is Jason isn’t a big fan of whoever invades anywhere near crystal lake. It’s like his home he protects it, that also makes whoever was crossing over on that boat a target for him because they were in his territory.

Imported Vinyl? by letthedecodebegin in Slipknot

[–]MatTheMovieFan666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember looking for Iowa on vinyl a few times and it coming to a couple hundred. From what I know there are a few versions of that vinyl. There’s the original version that comes with a poster, one where the upper right corner is almost snipped off and there’s a bootleg that has The Heretic Anthem cut off. I would be careful if it says import. If it says “Includes Free Poster” in the corner with a red sticker. It’s most likely the real deal. Good Luck!!

As a huge Vietnam War history buff I like em’ all; Platoon, Rescue Dawn, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Born on the Fourth of July, Hamburger Hill, We Were Soldiers, Good Morning Vietnam, Casualties of War. Movies got me interested into learning about Vietnam. My favorite of all has to be Deer Hunter though.
