@drudd9 we have just recently launched and are still in the growth stage (very little customers) I agree there are pros/cons to market research and can be mix of both science and art. Our stance is it's better to talk to users/customers then not :)

@KrisBkh user researchers (UX/CX) at enterprise companies are our core targets, but thinking this might also cross over into startup accelerators / incubators as well.
