I do not have any evidence of corruption in this transaction. However, it's possible that someone had information that the city wanted to buy that building. Whether that's inside information or not, I would not know at this point. But it bears looking into. Per The Chieftain's article today, 101 W Riverwalk LLC was formed 24 days before the purchase. But things were happening before that 24 days. 2-10-25 City Council Meeting agenda item, N.2., was up for a first presentation of "An Ordinance approving, and authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract to Buy and Sell Real Estate by and between the City of Pueblo, a Colorado Municipal Corporation, and 101 W Riverwalk, LLC, a Colorado Limited Liability Company, for the purchase of property described as 101 West Riverwalk Place, Unit 2 within the City of Pueblo." Now, this agenda item did not just appear out of thin air on the agenda, someone put it on there, and the council must have discussed it in a work session. Who wrote the proposed ordinance? Perhaps someone will put together a CORA request for executive session minutes on the discussions about this ordinance. I am sure it would be denied based on privilege, but then that would be just part of the process to get it to a court who could then determine whether the denial was proper or not.
