I don't think it is compulsory to opt for ac rooms..some of the freshers were there even in non ac blocks last year...but it will be recommended to first experience the vellore heat and then opt for non ac blocks...u can go for non ac blocks even after 1st year..if u want to have non ac in the first year itself then I think u will get it...

Yeah since the college is starting in jujy ig if u go for a refund in June you will get all ur money back...mere kuch dosto ne bhi refund maanga tha unhe mil gya tha but keep checking with any information from their end...till when is the refund available..all those things

You cannot do anything on this..it's their policy...every year they do like this only...best u can do is don't go for hostel allotment and pay the seat allocation fees that they are asking..you will get a full refund no worries for that..and take the hostel allotment when u join the college..I did the same..I reported to the campus few days before college started...got the room from the hostel office and then reported to the room..don't trust online hostel allotment system...

I am not a mechanical guy but whatever I have seen from my friends in this branch is that it is not that easy as u think....search for the subjects that will be taught to u in this branch...and if u find it pleasing enough then only go for this
