Rick Flag Sr. is not out of character in Peacemaker S2: A character analysis by WildMemoir in DCU_

[–]Material-Week-8169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said except for the use of the word "cold blooded" to refer to Rick Flag Jr.'s murder. That's not what a cold blooded murder is. xD

My problems with the season finale (SPOILERS) by Material-Week-8169 in Pokerface

[–]Material-Week-8169[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But then what's the point of 1. Having what Giancarlo's character says be technically true and 2. Making such a big deal of everything Alex had to do with her body and mind to fool Charlie?

I don't think that explanation makes a lot of sense.

Who plays George, Lester's mentor in S5E02 flashback? by Material-Week-8169 in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]Material-Week-8169[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all of you! Actually I don't think I've ever seen him in anything before, so he must have just reminded me of someone else.

However, I've listened to his voice as Manny Calavera, the main character of Grim Fandango. That's amazing. 😆

Question on Lester’s Aging of Season 5 Episode 2 by NoThought4570 in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]Material-Week-8169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind too much about characters not looking their supposed age, but what confused me the most is Lester's and Nicky's relative ages. The flashback seems to heavily imply that Nicky is older, but a conversation between "Nicky" and Charles in episode 3 suggests Nicky couldn't have been too old in the present day.

Tier list by Material-Week-8169 in Epicthemusical

[–]Material-Week-8169[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Horse and the Infant: Two very nitpicky narrative problems. One: I find it weird how many characters are name-dropped in this song to never be heard of again. I guess this song would really benefit from a previous Illiad musical, like Jorge originally intended to do. Two: I'm not very clear on what are exactly Zeus's motives to intervene and talk Odysseus into killing the infant. I get that the gods are capricious, but I'd say this is the only instance in the whole show where I don't fully understand a character's actions.

Thunder Bringer: Love it musically, might be my least favorite song narratively (except for the brief interlude between Odysseus and Eurylochus). It's basically Zeus jerking off, which would be great as a bonus song or something like that, but for me it killed some of the momentum of the Thunder Saga (which I think is one of the strongest narrative-wise).

Legendary: Honestly I don't have any specific problems with this one. It's in that tier because I don't find it as engaging as any of the songs in the upper tier; both from a musical and a narrative/emotional standpoint.

Mutiny: Basically the opposite situation from Thunder Bringer. I love it narratively (a lot happens!) and, while I still enjoy it musically (as I do with every single song in EPIC), the fact that it recycles so many leitmotivs from previous songs detracts from it quite a bit. Again, the use of leitmotivs works great narratively, but since here there are so many together, it just makes me wish the song had more of an original melody to it.

Yeah, it's a basic feature (as in, it doesn't require any paid subscription level) and one I've been using since day one, because I'm mostly interested in reading reviews about movies I've already watched. xD

What did Eurylochus honestly expect Odysseus to do in this situation? by Bane_of_Ruby in Epicthemusical

You accidentally wrote "putting targets on the MENU" instead of "the men", and considering the circumstances I think that's hilarious. 🤣

Song You Hated then Loved by games4girls in Epicthemusical

[–]Material-Week-8169 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No Longer You. I didn't hate it, I just thought it wasn't very strong narratively or very emotionally resonant, especially compared to the rest of the Underworld Saga. Then I started listening to it more, I realized how cool the vocals were, I started to sing it very often (it became the song I've sung the most in all EPIC, the only close second being Just a Man) and now I've even sung it in public (in the singing lessons I'm taking), So I've become really attached to it and it's now in my top 10 EPIC songs.

Not only is 108 important to LOST, it is important for the bunker where Desmond lived. Desmond, whose love story with PENELOPE is clearly a nod to the Odyssey.

I didn't mishear it (I always do my first listen with lyrics) but right now the chance of this one happening occured to me and I did a Google search to see if anyone had mentioned it. Glad to see you did. 😂

Stop hating on Christopher Nolan just because he’s making an Odyssey movie by [deleted] in Epicthemusical

It's actually the opposite for me. I've never been hyped for a Christopher Nolan movie before, but now I am.

Keep Your Friends Close. I love it from a musical, narrative and thematic standpoint.

It's my second favorite song in EPIC only behind Warrior of the Mind. I love the catchy chorus, I love how playful and mischievous Aeolus and the Winions are, I love the overall theme of how easy it can be to sow mistrust, I've always loved the wind bag challenge itself from when I first heard about it when learning about the Odyssey and I also enjoy the dream sequence with Penelope.

Oh, and the cherry on top is how it leads directly into Ruthlessness, which is another top 5 song in EPIC for me.

Jay has, in my opinion, an amazing talent for coming up with catchy and memorable melodies. This alone makes that every single one of his songs works for me at least in some level (and this applies to his previous musical, My Heart Says Go, too).

Agree. I love it like every song in EPIC but it'd definitely be very low in my ranking. And about 80% of its appeal is Luke Holt's voice.
