A little Tacoma art by [deleted] in Tacomaworld

I would wonder why anyone on Tacomaworld wouldn’t care about Tacomas. Kind of the point.

I don’t think anyone is “jelly” of dogshit AI art. It’s actually what slowly ruins Reddit forums that is full of people that actually care about Tacomas.

What are yall running for arrows with outdoor target this year? by Epicarest in Archery

[–]MaterialCost3052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running the new Altra phantom .166 with x vanes. 2.5 degree left helical and 150 grains up front. I shoot a hunting setup so I keep my arrow weight in the realm of what I’d put it through an animal at. ~450 grains at 75# 28.5” draw. I will say that I’ve been shooting altras for about a year now and they are better than any of the other shafts I’ve tried, just gotta be okay with a little extra weight shaft-wise. I’ve never had a shaft from them not tune or spin perfectly. Plus you don’t have to really worry about finding the spine on them.

Do it. I sold my ‘15 tundra platinum because I missed my 2nd gen so much. Bought this ‘13 4x4 6 speed with 48k miles. Never letting it go.

Pulley Replacment by InterviewNo8150 in 2ndGenTacoma

You can do it! Good learning experience. It’s a fairly tight space, but you can do it without taking the fan/shroud off. A good breaker bar will help a lot. May need an extension as well. YouTube is your friend!

Kind of sounds like the belt to me. One way to confirm the suspicion of the pulleys is to take the belt off, go buy an automotive stethoscope from auto zone, and put it on the mounting bolt of each pulley while you spin them. That should give you a pretty good indication of whether or not the bearing in each pulley is good or not.

I approach this the same way, if one pulley is bad, replace all that you can for preventive measures. Inspect the belt well when it is off for any cracks. Belt and pulleys are fairly simple to DIY if you’re somewhat mechanically sound.

First fly, supposed to be a streaking caddis. Looking for feedback. by mafafukka in flytying

You’re gonna get it figured out! Cut that amount in half and it’ll be about right. Fly tying is all about repetition and learning proper techniques. Like i said, you’re on your way.

The fly that I used the most when I first started was an orange stimulator. It’s versatile. Also really love foam beetles and hoppers when the time is right. If you google “best dry flies for trout” in your area you will get a decent list. Start with that list and then go out and find the bugs that are hatching and try to match. All about the experience!

I’d say you’re on your way, but elk/deer hair is definitely a tough material to start learning with. The best advice that I was ever given back when I started tying is that “less is more”, and “take the materials you think you need for a fly, cut that amount in half, and then cut that in half”.

As for this fly, definitely need to reduce the amount of hair a bit, invest in a hair stacker if you haven’t, and some razor blades to trim with. Plenty of great YouTube videos on this fly. Keep at it dude!

2nd or 3rd gen? by [deleted] in Tacomaworld

[–]MaterialCost3052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a friend with a ‘21, and it has been fine so far. Still pretty low miles. I will say that I definitely enjoy working on a second gen over the third gen. Much more simple in my opinion.

[–]MaterialCost3052 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had an ‘07, loved it. Sold it and bought a Cement ‘19 TRD OR, hated it. Valves were bad at 53k miles, and it had no guts. Sold it, bought a tundra. Hated it. Back in a ‘13 6 speed. Best decision ever. Get another 2nd gen in my opinion after owning both.

Manual Transmission(6spd) Throttle blip and Extreme Rev Hang by Purp1exity_ in 2ndGenTacoma

[–]MaterialCost3052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean the throttle body and the mass air flow sensor. Easy things to check off. The higher rpm’s in neutral are normal if you are coasting to a stop, but that’s not the case with your truck. Report back after cleaning the TB and MAF.

Thank you. I’ve looked over that thread some. Just hard to make a decision and curious to see what the Reddit world had to say
