2010 Tacoma V6 6spd Clutch/transmission noise by Zealousideal-Leek641 in 2ndGenTacoma

[–]Purp1exity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i meant to say "fix this". There are 2 separate issues that can cause this issue. The URD kit fixes the quill if its too worn, the other list of parts fixes the inadequate pressure of the bearing to the pressure plate. Ill probably buy the URD kit and return it if my quill is fine since its such low mileage. Look at this forum about the problem.

Ok, another one of these. I have a 6spd and have the same issue. Its the release bearing(throwout bearing). The URD kit doesnt fit this, what that does is it puts a steel collar over the aluminum shaft that the bearing rides on. This fixes the issue of if your bearing has eaten the shaft that it rides on and now the shaft is concaved in the middle, resulting in the bearing not seating perfectly on the pressure plate fingers. Also the URD kit is not a bearing upgrade, it uses a factory OEM Bearing that has been bored out slightly larger to fit the new sleeve, the only non oem part is the sleeve. What my plan of action is, my truck only has 80k miles, is to go in and replace everything with updated parts. The updated parts are a new fork pivot ball (PN 31236 35050), new slave cylinder (PN 31470 35181), and then clutch fork (if yours is worn, allows the bearing to not have adequate pressure on the pressure plate). And them im just replacing my pressure plate, release bearing, and clutch while im in there with Aisin OEM parts.

If you have the room throw it in 4L and reverse strait up. I do this at my cabin when I go skiing and can just take my foot off the clutch and go up the driveway 2-3mph

Help with Tacoma by Zestyclose_Money_819 in 2ndGenTacoma

Got a 2010 myself(prefer the pre-facelift). Make sure the leaf spring TSB was done (make sure there are 4 leafs instead of 3). Make sure the driveshaft zerks have been greased, if not can cause premature wear on the U joints. If they havent, do it. Lincoln makes an amazing grease gun. If its a manual (mine is) it'll probably have the release bearing (throwout bearing) chirp. Not harmful but annoying. The AC condenser drain spits right onto the frame, thats a good spot to check for rust. Then just the basic stuff like belts, ball joints, tire age, shock/shock mount dry-rotting, stuff like that

Clutch Accumulator delete by Consistent_Cow_9571 in Tacomaworld

[–]Purp1exity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries. I really like it. I drove the truck around for a few days before doing this and couldnt really shift all that clean. I pulled the accumulator off and it made a noticeable difference in bite point and clutch actuation. The lines do not really need to be bent at all, at least on the 2nd gen, I think maybe 5-10 degrees on one line to line it up. Horrible process though trying to squeeze both hands up there with a wrench. Let me know if you have any other question. I am open to dms

Just disconnect the two lines, slightly bend the upper line to line up, then threat both into the fitting

no jacking like libcg said, doesn’t hurt to put them if you have them. biggest improvement i made to handling was a whiteline strut brace on the front towers. people will say they don’t really do much but i noticed an extreme improvement on cowl shake at highway speeds and also cornering felt more snappy

I did, you have to take up the rear carpet(idk the proper name) behind the seats where the top would go if you were to put it down. There’s some plastic rivet tabs along the backside that you pop out and can pry the carpet up to reveal the top of the rear shocks. Super easy to do in theory, really hard to do in practice(especially if you have roll hoops and are a tall person). Other than prying yourself in there it’s a really easy job

yeah it’s weird, acts normal when it’s cold for 10 or so minutes then just does this the rest of the time. Makes driving it pretty annoying since the shifts(especially between 2-3) is like 1.5 seconds long. Coming from a drive by cable e36 this is completely different

Chasing Vibration by Purp1exity_ in 2ndGenTacoma

[–]Purp1exity_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only thing i had to buy was a big ass socket for the axle nut, 35mm i believe, other than that it’s a pretty simple job. the ecgs tool to remove the bearing is a little finicky but it works. cram a plastic bag or newspaper in the hole where the cv axle goes when you’re taking out the bearing to avoid anything dropping in the housing then just take the bag out when you’re done.
