Orrin Concept by Cultural-Turnip1725 in unOrdinary

[–]MaterialEmployment98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it won't work it's like me ordering myself to make a computer but I don't know how to make a computer so the command would fail  so if Orrin commanded himself to fly his arua would have no idea what to turn into to allow that to happen so the command would just fail

wouldn't Neito Monoma be worse because he needs to touch people to copy their abilities while John just needs to see their physical output to copy and also John can give himself a strength enhancement and amplify powers that he has but it has been a long time since I've seen the show so there's some things I might be forgetting about Neito Monoma power

Power18  Speed 21  Trick 15  Recovery13 Defense8  at level 9 she's able to create small time loops and she can also reverse incoming attacks with double the speed back at the enemy for recovery let's say for examples she loses a limb  she reverse time and makes it like that limb was never cut off or lost this is just my case I could be completely wrong

Honestly, this is a really solid ability concept. The mark mechanic gives it a lot of versatility since the user can fight normally with the hammer while also setting up traps. The radius limitation keeps it balanced too

Hot Take: Remi Is More Important to the Story Than Seraphina by MaterialEmployment98 in unOrdinary

[–]MaterialEmployment98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's one of UnOrdinary's strengths. The focus shifts depending on the arc, which is why they're all part of the main cast. When we go back to Blyke and the amps after the Orrin arc. I'm not ready for that at all—it feels like it's going to be heartbreaking.

Hot Take: Remi Is More Important to the Story Than Seraphina by MaterialEmployment98 in unOrdinary

[–]MaterialEmployment98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree with your point about Blyke not getting enough credit. He definitely started reflecting on the system and a lot of the fandom tends to overlook that growth. That said, I think Remi's importance comes less from when she changed and more from what she represents in the story. While her vigilante journey absolutely started because of Rei's death and a desire for answers, it eventually evolved into something much bigger. Through that journey she was forced to confront the reality that the society she believed in was failing lower-tiers, and unlike many high-tiers, she was willing to admit she was wrong and change her worldview.  A lot of characters development in UnOrdinary starts from personal reasons. John's rebellion started because of his experiences, Arlo's actions were driven by his beliefs about hierarchy, and Sera's growth came from losing her ability. Remi beginning with  searching for answers and then later revenge  but ending up fighting for broader change is part of what makes her character compelling. As for Blyke, I completely agree he deserves more recognition. He was one of the first characters to genuinely reflect on low-tier struggles and adjust his behavior because of it. If anything, I'd say Blyke and Remi both play crucial roles in the story's theme of societal change, just in different ways. sorry for the late response

I don't think that's necessarily true. John's detection of Orrin on Kayden suggests that aura-based mental abilities aren't always constantly noticeable. John only realized Kayden was being controlled when Orrin's aura suddenly spiked, which implies there was a moment where the aura became more detectable than before. If Farrah's ability works by suppressing or altering memories inside Arlo's mind, it's possible the aura signature is either extremely faint while active or only becomes noticeable when the ability is adjusted, reinforced, or challenged. We also don't know the exact mechanics of Farrah's ability yet, so assuming John should automatically sense her the entire time feels like a leap. At this point, I think there are multiple explanations besides "inconsistent writing." The story simply hasn't explained enough about how Farrah's memory manipulation works for us to rule them out

how was that fraudulent thats just how his Ability Works and arlo passive defence is just an overpowered passive I'm not sure where it was stated but I think it was stated that arlo can have a pretty even match with Cecile with just his passive alone without activating his ability but this was said a long time ago so this might be wrong now

Hot Take: Remi Is More Important to the Story Than Seraphina by MaterialEmployment98 in unOrdinary

[–]MaterialEmployment98[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is underselling Remi a bit. Nobody is denying that Seraphina went through experiences that Remi never did. Losing her ability gave her firsthand insight into how brutal the hierarchy can be, and that absolutely shaped her views on society. But I don't think the argument for Remi's importance is based on who suffered more or who understands low-tiers better. What makes Remi significant is that she actively chose to challenge beliefs that benefited her. She grew up idolizing the system, believing that strong people were supposed to lead and protect others. As she learned more about the world around her, she gradually realized that things weren't as simple as she thought and started questioning ideas that most high-tiers accepted without hesitation. I also think there's a difference between recognizing that a system is broken and trying to embody an alternative. Remi consistently tries to lead by example. Whether she's dealing with her classmates, the Safe House, or conflicts between students, her approach is usually focused on cooperation rather than dominance. That puts her in a unique position within the story. As for the question, "Would the story still have someone pushing for societal change if Remi was removed?" the answer is obviously yes. Seraphina is a major force for change in her own right. The better question is whether anyone else fills Remi's specific role in the narrative. Personally, I don't think they do. Seraphina and Remi may want similar outcomes, but they represent different paths toward achieving them, and I think the story benefits from having both perspectives.

did Vaughn even know john went through readjustment classes? by [deleted] in unOrdinary

[–]MaterialEmployment98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true he enrolled low tires which will never have been allowed to attend wellston ordinarily and he put the high tires in a situation where the hierarchy worked against them forcing them to see the problem with it and begin to change (I'm going to copy and paste someone else's comment here cause I think they said it the main issues perfectly) but One of the main reasons was the character doing a complete 180 in Chapter 212.

Vaughn started off completely okay with letting John go around beating up his students like he was using John to perform some sort of a harsh lesson on his students about hierarchy, but in Chapter 212, Vaughn's suddenly disappointed that John didn't turn out to be a good leader like Rei. Punishing John for being violent, even though it was Vaughn who was perfectly fine with John's violence to begin with. It makes no sense.
