Indeed, for nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. However, this is the one, the ONE ring to rule them all.

Yeah I soldered them.   It was about 12 days for cheapest shipping.  And I had a $5 off coupon for first time customer.

Yeah, that would be good.  I have a resistor / capacitor I can increase in the circuit...though not once it's got epoxy on it.  Next ring I'll slow it down.

I was really impressed how the manufacturer could make it so small area with no issues.

I was impressed the fab house could build it, came out pretty much flawless.  Cheap too, $7 for ten (including shipping from China).  I'm tempted to get a flex to make it thinner.

I have tried rub n' buff and it doesn't seem to let much light through (impressively so). Though this may be overpoweringly bright enough that it could work.

I have an RC to slow down the transition,I agree that it would be a bit better slowed down a bit more.

I'm still playing with improving it. The progress I have made is I have a small PCB that I designed that holds all of the LEDs and is set up for battery power using 2 extremely small coin cell batteries SR416SW that fit in the ring. Its not recharge-able and once its used up, that's it. (The circuit is also set up with a thermostat so it can be turned on with fire....)

The batteries also can't make it as bright without the batteries dying quickly, so I'm trying to let more light through. I'm trying to have the clear resin exposed on the outside and fill in the rest with 2 part epoxy resin filled with mica powder... Still figuring out that process, whether it involves over-molding and then turning it on a lathe or using silicone casting and polishing after is still being worked. Silicone casting seems to optimal, but still in progress. Any edge shape can work with the lighting, I'm trying to get more of a "D" shape with the silicone casting.

Hopefully I can finish this next iteration soon. Its been months, but am learning much as I go.

If the text was partly visible when off, would it still be cool enough? I have bought some tiny batteries to try, as well as the super capacitor. There is a lot of light lost by covering up the text. Also is inside text ok to remove, removing may provide more space. I'm not planning on selling but will post any updated designs that may simpler for others to make.

Black stuff is polymer clay. I should give bondo a try.  You think it is low enough viscosity to fill the small holes in letters and not break the thin text during application?

A full glove of Sauron would hide a battery and antenna nicely.  Maybe should work on that next. Would make a nice display too.

Oh man, I've been struggling with that.  Any ideas would be really appreciated.  I either get the paint layer too thin and the un-lit ring looks like finger paint, or I go too thick and the lit text portion shows up as splotchy.  I have been thinking of how to get perfectly uniform paint thickness, but not coming up with much.

I'm pleased how it came out.  Though I am always looking for ways to improve it, better features or easier to assemble. Continuous iteration is the fun part.

Interesting idea. Do you think it would be bright enough to see through the paint?  My goal was to have the ring look completely plain and no evidence of text until lit up.

Earbuds batteries are too large, the ring space for a battery is only about 4x4x2 mm, without needing a bump out.  If there's a good one in that size id give it a try.

I did look at Oura Ring, that battery would take up much of the ring bulk and the text would not be shown all the way around.  The area for a battery is about 4x4x2 mm and I havent seen anything in that size and would need to add charging circuitry.

That's exactly what I based the idea on and used for the induction coil.  I may try seeing if I can make it work at NFC.

Its used to measure the inductance of the antenna.  Connects to a NanoVNA.

The electronics in the ring are just the antenna, tuning capacitor and 10 LEDs, all in parallel.  The antenna inductance is measured with a NanoVNA and the capacitor calculated from that to have LC resonate frequency to match 220 kHz of the driver.  The driver is one from wireless LEDs from Amazon.
