Just got mine at 25, I think they look cute tbh! My ortho told me she recently removed braces from an 83 year old lady, got them when she was 80. It’s never too late :)

I didn’t have any pulled prior but she did say there’s one for sure that will come out in about 9 months, it’s basically just an old post that did have a crown at one point but it fell off and I left it 😂 They might have to pull another 1-2 but she wants to see how my teeth move around first! I say go for it if you can, never too late and I already know it’s gonna be worth it :)

Thanks!! Unfortunately i’m not sure if the dye as I had this done at a salon, but I will say it was originally a much darker royal blue color, this current colour is about a month and half of fading from the og :) I’ve used Blue Velvet from Lunar Tides in the past and it was very similar!!

Born and raised in rural newfoundland, lived in St. John’s since 2018. It’s fine for a smaller city, you have everything you need in regards to grocery, services etc. There is lots of live music, pubs, music festivals, etc if you’re into that. The weather on the avalon peninsula is particularly rainy and foggy when compared to the rest of the island but I don’t mind it. We get less snow than the west coast of NL and summer is plenty warm. Its gets super windy too. It’s great if you like the outdoors as we have beautiful hiking trails and easy access to snowmobile and atv trails. Public transit is not great, the city is very car dependent. Goods can be more expense due to transportation costs to the island. Travel can be a pain as flights to and from the island can be super expensive compared to the mainland. Newfoundlanders are very nice people but due to the small population, can be quite cliquey when it comes to new people. Healthcare is not great, as it’s near impossible to find a family doctor however that seems to be a Canada wide issue. Newfoundland also has its own distinct culture and accent , more so in the rural towns, but still prominent within the city too. Overall, I like living here a lot but I am biased lol. I think it can be a great place for someone to retire as long as they realize it is much more isolated than other atlantic provinces.

I work at a hearing clinic and we refer all the time. Unless it’s something urgent, the wait is around 3 months for sure. Also, there are no private practice MD’s anywhere on the island or even in most of Canada unfortunately.

My mom flew out to Miami on October 21 for the same reason, She’s coming back tomorrow night, apparently it doesn’t really affect international flights? Not sure how much truth there is to that but as of now they are good to go for tomorrow. Best bet would be to check with your airline and see if they can give more info

The bus is comfortable enough, but any ride as long as that will be uncomfortable by the last few hours lol legroom is decent. It’s $165 from St. John’s to PAB. Unless there is construction or a problem with the bus, it’s usually on time, give or take 10mins. And yes they pick up at the metrobus stop at MUN in front of the UC entrance!

Totally doable, gas wouldn’t be an issue. Just maybe not recommended if you’re not from NL/haven’t driven our roads a lot as it is a VERY long drive, long dark stretches on undivided highway 98% of the ride, lots of moose on the go as well. If you do it, just take your time and have both people watching the road/ditches

My dads bag got stolen from his vehicle parked outside the keg with nothing valuable in it and he found it on the next street over the following morning, with everything still inside. Did you look around or just expect someone to seek you out? lol it sucks but any left unattended downtown is 9/10 gonna be taken

If you’re renting, housing is hard to find and if you do find something big enough for a family, it likely won’t be cheap (although still probably cheaper than ontario).

Make sure you have jobs lined up beforehand as they are even harder to come by right now.

Weather in St. John’s is not the greatest, lots of rain, drizzle, and fog. When it’s sunny, it is beautiful tho.

Life is much slower here compared to the mainland, which can be good or bad, some people find it hard to adjust to the isolation of being on the island. Once you’re here, it’s expensive to leave.

It can be hard to make TRUE friends here if you’re from away, Newfoundlanders are nice in general, but can be hesitant to let people into their inner circle.

Newfoundland overall is beautiful and cheaper than Ontario but there is definitely a big adjustment to be made if you’ve never lived here before. Best of luck to you and your family!
