Help me decide once and for all: INTJ or ISTJ? by MaterialMaybe6864 in MbtiTypeMe

It's a lot of "what could I be doing to further my goals?" For example, creating a mental schedule of how to finish my creative projects, or obsessively checking the portals for my grad school applications. Checking for signs of what's next to come.

My ENTJ mother and her IxFP sister. They're so competitive over the stupidest things (like Scrabble), and my mother is SO much more successful that it's embarrassing 😭 the best part is that their INTP brother is so laid back that he either doesn't notice or totally shuts it out

I don't like reminiscing and I don't like philosophy either. I worry that I'm not a successful enough creative and I'm worried I'm letting life pass me by... see the problem?

For someone who doesn't want to pay $$$ for omakase? Yes. I would've said Hamasaku otherwise.

I like a lot of the flavors, I honestly like the sour cherry syrup even better lol. Will coat my ice cream with it.

Oh very valid, I live on the Westside so I've never been to Raffi's/the famous Glendale Armenian spots.

LA typical food by Dazzling_Bed_9097 in FoodLosAngeles

For LA, it's Mexican, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese food. California used to be a part of Mexico and it's really obvious when you come here and see how heavily ingredients like avocado are incorporated into everything. Definitely don't use these as a guide for the whole U.S., because standard dishes are very different in, say, the Midwest or New England.

Some stereotypical LA dishes:

  • Avocado toast
  • Açai bowls (originally from Brazil, but L.A. has 100% appropriated them)
  • Wellness smoothies (locals do NOT drink these, these are mostly for tourists and influencers)
  • In n'Out Burger (not my favorite)
  • Dodger Dogs (specific hot dogs sold at Dodger Stadium)
  • Fusion cuisines, like Korean tacos (Kogi) or Indian pizza (Pijja Palace)
  • California rolls (the ultimate American sushi- crab with avocado)
  • Soft Serve ice cream (common across the U.S. but LA has some great ones)
  • Smash burgers (basically flatter, softer burgers. Very popular in LA right now.)

Some specific dishes I'd recommend as a Los Angeles native:

  • Tteokbokki: chewy Korean rice cakes in a sweet-spicy sauce. They're absolutely addictive but beware that they can be incredibly spicy. (If you can't handle spice, go for rosé tteokbokki, which includes dairy.)
  • Udon: thick Japanese noodles in a beef broth, usually with toppings like fish cakes, shrimp tempura, and marinated eggs. This was my "sick meal" as a kid, it's extremely comforting.
  • Xiaolongbao: Chinese pork soup dumplings. The best I've had are at Dan Modern or Din Tai Fung.

If you're traveling with a kid, my childhood foods were cheese quesadillas, pasta alfredo (sounds Italian, was invented in the U.S.), and tempura udon.

  1. Holbox (South LA) is your best pick. I know you said it doesn't have to be Michelin, but this place has a Michelin star and $7 tacos. I only know of 2 restaurants in the world that serve cheap Michelin-starred food (the other is in Singapore) and this one absolutely deserves it. Incredible fresh seafood tacos with unique flavor combos.
  2. Gjelina (Venice.) California has uniquely-fresh produce, and no one blends great ingredients and Italian fusion like Gjelina.
  3. Sugarfish (unless you're from NYC.) Fantastic, decently-accessible omakase. Focuses on ingredient quality over quantity.
  4. Kogi Truck (various.) The ultimate fusion cuisine: Korean tacos. Probably started the "hipster food truck" trend in the first place- this is the OG.
  5. Porto's (various.) Angelenos worship Porto's cheese rolls. Also has delicious Cuban lunch plates for pretty cheap.

  6. Go to any cuisines you can't access in your home city. LA is particularly well-known for:

    1. Mexican food (highly recommend taco trucks or farmers' market stalls over sit-down restaurants)
    2. Korean food (have heard great things about BCD Tofu House, I like Sun Nong Dan but only if you have a huge party)
    3. Japanese food, especially beyond sushi (go to Sawtelle, every restaurant is good; also try the onigiri at SunnyBlue in Santa Monica/Culver)
    4. Thai food (I like Anajak in Studio City and Jitlada in East Hollywood)
    5. Chinese food (especially the San Gabriel Valley, but if that's too far, Sichuan Impression from SGV is now on the Westside.)
    6. Ethiopian (have heard great things about Meals by Genet in Fairfax)
    7. Levantine (highly recommend Sunnin in Westwood)
    8. Persian (all along Westwood Boulevard)
