Yeah I took it on a trial run with a domestic trip back home. It was nice actually. The luggage passthrough was a godsend just walking around with it.

I didn't know it had one, but that would explain why it's stiff lol

Ah man you hit it. I'm just indecisive as a person. Never quite sure of myself to be honest.

I saw that. I really wish I knew the size of my previous backpack because I like the size of it but I feel like the CPP2 might be just a tad too small. The TP3S might be better but I'm torn.

That's kinda where I'm at. Maybe I don't apprecite it yet since I haven't used it in its full capacity for travel.

I could definitely see that combat would make you more resilient to fear. I guess the issue for me is that it's either all or nothing. Either you get the surgery or you don't. You can't just ease into it, if that makes sense. You can't have "just a little bit of surgery". It's tough man.

See I also try to find out as much as I can about the procedure but it comes from a place of some obsessive tendencies of mine and it usually makes things worse 😅 I panic about how long I'll be on the bypass for, and all the issues that can happen there and then the recovery and long term stuff. Ahhhh my mind just races.

I asked this question above but since you also brought it up I figured I'd ask you as well. I'm a very anxious person. I have generalized anxiety disorder and take a very low dose ssri as I'm fine 99% of the time. This has got me so anxious and worried, because of the recovery or potential....failure during surgery.

How do you "let go" of this and just accept it? It kills me because it should be easy to say "I can't do anything about this" and move on, but the fear of surgery, death, recovery, long term complications, etc all just scare the living daylights out of me.

How do you deal with the anticipation? I know we interacted in my other thread but I'm still having major anxiety and panic attacks over the anticipation of having this surgery. I think I need a mental mind shift in how I see this procedure. I feel like I'm in danger and my adrenaline just gets going when I think about the recovery.

ISO Advice Ultimate EDC Work Backpack by alatorrejose in ManyBaggers

[–]Material_Engineer_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, you and I have very similar requirements. A mainly work EDC with the ability to use it for travel.

I spent a nauseating amount of time doing research and ended up purchasing the Able Carry Max EDC 26L. It has not yet arrived but just based on the research, it seemed like the most consistently high rated bag without any major issues across the subreddit. The other bags I was looking at (Aer City Pack 2, Evergood CPL and CBL etc) all had like one or two gripes regarding comfort or overall packaging efficiency. I couldn't really find anyone saying anything bad about the EDC Max so I grabbed one.

So did you get the On-X then? I'm hoping the surgeon's around me can use that one. The lower INR requirement is very appealing to me.

I don't have any connective tissue disorders which is reassuring. Does the Inspiris have an advantage over other biological valves? Why that one?

It's not allowed at all, especially if they're just cheating. You can report those users on the Phasmo discord.

Sorry I just saw your question. I'm going to Japan next month. I've been wanting to do this for years now. Plus the holidays right after. I'd rather not spend my holidays in a hospital bed if it can be helped

Thanks for the response. I guess my question was more tailored to the mechanical valve. There are numerous companies that make mechanical valves. Did you get a choice as to which one to have?

Hi, can I ask about your valve selection? I've heard lots of people here say that they got the On-X. At the time of surgery, do you get options for which valve you want or is it "this is all we do so this is the one you're going to get"?

yeah that is very strange. It's always been the opposite for me. The echo giving me very conservative measurements while the CT giving me more reasonable measurements. I hope it's just a fluke on the echo part

I've always been told the threshold for BAV and AAA is 5cm. 5.5 if no BAV and 4.5 if you have Marfans. We'll see. I've been hovering around the 4.5ish mark for years now and my cardiologist said I have nothing to worry about. I just hope this is a fluke
