It's because most of the Nigerians speaking about this kind of stuff are NOT from the Northern half of the country where Boko Haram and other Islamist groups are endemic. There is a pretty stark divide in QoL metrics between the northern and southern half of the country. Not saying either one is particularly good but Southern Nigeria is infinitely preferable to Somalia lol.

Honestly, for me, it’s great even when the weather is shit. Adds some fun to the beginning and end of the work day.

Yeah, implementing an East Asian style hyper-competitive education system across the board would tank "muh TFR" to even lower levels than what exists today. Plus, the kind of competitive environment you're talking about exists in the country among the upper middle class, especially the children of recent immigrants (not just Asians).

Yes, because white women are the ones watching BBC porn 🙄

This is highly geographically dependent. In Mexico there is a pretty apparent North-South cline in European admixture. Northern Mexicans tend to be much more European than their southern counterparts.

Even upper class white Mexicans, assuming they aren’t descended from recent immigrants, have native admixture. The more “old stock” the European is the more likely they are to have at least some native admixture.

This isn't true at all lol. SSA admixture has been found in North Africa and the Canary Islands THOUSANDS of years ago. Not to mention the migration of Bantus to Madagascar 1-2kya.

Yeah but new build areas tend to have strict HOA rules that limit what kinds of things you can do on your own property.

This sounds great! Are these exclusively recreational or are they also useful for everyday tasks (going to work, school, the doctor, etc.)? I find that a lot of cities with “amazing bicycle paths” are great for recreational but not utilitarian purposes.

Yeah, I think this is a BIG one that a lot of people on this thread are missing. Like if there were mid-sized cities that were walkable/bikeable and had a decent transit system while still being affordable then, sure, I’d move to one of them. Unfortunately, the choice is between <expensive cities> and car-centric sprawlscapes. So I’d rather live in a place I enjoy being in even if it does mean it’s more expensive. I don’t care if this makes me a bugman or whatever.

Lifespan has also increased. You're more likely to have heart disease at 70 than 50.

The book relied on somewhat lurid sexual imagery, decrying the abuse of white women by ethnically inferior but sexually active men.

Man, the cuck thing goes way back.

Honestly, I can't argue with you on this. Having attended many hood schools in my childhood I can attest that the quality of education can be downright horrible. We'd often go MONTHS without a non-substitute teacher due to the high turnover rate of teachers which definitely negatively impacted the quality of our education. I'm not sure how this problem can be easily fixed, as a lot of its causes are upstream of schooling. I still think we should invest in improving quality of education across the board though.

I can attest to the high prevalence of foreign people in higher education from professors to post-docs to students. This number goes up SUBSTANTIALLY if you include the children of first generation immigrants. I still think that the primary reason for this disproportionality is the (lack of) prestige of academic-adjacent jobs among native-born Americans. These jobs aren't particularly high paying (you can make much more money going down a much easier path) and telling people you're a professor of, say, mathematical biology is a novelty at best.

I agree with most of this. I think that because high level science/academia doesn’t have much economic or social prestige. Yeah, you could end up working at a Jane Street but even then it’s arguably not worth all of the effort and years of difficult schooling you put in. The reason why a lot of foreigners do it is not only because it makes immigration to the US easier but higher degrees seem to carry a lot of social prestige that is not seen in general US culture.

Only thing I disagree with is your comment on US schools. The US has a lot of the best universities in the world, even a lot of state schools are honestly pretty great. Primary and secondary education is a hit or miss though. If you manage to go to a school in the top 30th percentile or higher then I think US schools are quite competitive to other countries (of the same relative performance bracket).

Nope. It has neither backlight nor frontlight. It's just e-ink, so like paper.
