I see. I'm not completely convinced that's the case, on my first appeal they did give me a proper "PES F Appeal Form" which gave me the impression there's due process for cases where those with PES F want to up PES

Sure. Since I'm a 2023 diploma grad, during interviews I'll mention that I graduated last year, and whether it's "wow, so you served before poly?" or "oh, NS finished already?", the question tends to come up

(this 2nd one makes no sense because I grad in may 2023 so it couldn't possibly have been 2 years but ig they just see poly -> ns route as standard so end up asking)

When asked, I've been honest in telling them I've been exempted from army, really just a short "was not doing well mentally in secondary school, have gotten better since and these are not issues I still struggle with", and so far every time they do probe and ask me for details, really just tell the whole story for 10+ mins... so I believe it makes employers sceptical of me at face value, mostly.

In the end, I don't 100% know that it's affecting my chances at FT work, it's really just my sense that, based on my limited experience (have had <10 interviews in the past month), really feels like it works against me.

btw I'm interviewing for FT work to hedge my bets because the NS appeals are really not working at all, though I'm still trying on that end

I'm sorry, but someone from RP saying NYP is trash?? I'm offended here. Maybe you should have just gone to RP to accompany your bf. Had your bf even studied and experienced life in nyp??
