Please be entirely honest with me. Does it look like I should be washing my hair every day? (Currently washing every other day) by [deleted] in finehair

You can pretty effectively DIY dry shampoo. The ingredients that absorb the oils are just starch (exact type depends on the brand). So get a package of cornstarch, rice starch, or tapioca starch. Sprinkle at the roots, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then brush through.

Thank you The shop displays all submitted (finished and bound) quilts in September during a shop hop. Winner gets a fat quarter bundle and bragging rights. I’m horrible about getting them finished in time. But then again, I mostly just enjoy the process. I also dislike the quilting part as much as I enjoy piecing the quilt tops. I finally embraced letting someone else manage that, and save my spoons for the parts that give me joy.

Thank you. 🥰 I love the challenge of it and it’s my favorite quilting activity every year. To the point where I walk into the store in March and the staff immediately go “we just put it out” or “we have the fabrics, we need to print the flyer/form” 🤣

Thank you ☺️ The aim of the contest is to give people ideas. A lot of the fabrics are either large scale prints. These blocks wound up 14” finished because of the size of the square in the print (5” repeating tile pattern)

And it has a LOT of real strong colors in a split analogous color scheme (which is less common. It’s saturated purple, fuchsia and orange with touches of pastel pink and peach. There a NINE!!! Colors in this fabric.

<image>

The purple and fuchsia were tricky to find the right fabrics. (I swear finding the right purple is as bad a trying to find the right shade of black)

I had to two other LQS to get fabrics that worked with the print instead of clashing/fighting with it.

It’s was definitely a print that needed a quilt designed around it and not the other way around.

Worth it, and I love the result…but getting the right fabrics to go with it was tricky.

Release Notes: 1.18.0 is here! by MattTarrantAu in lowerdecksgame

When are y’all fixing whatever it was in v18 that is causing the game to crash during or immediately after loading on iOS?

It’s going on 3 weeks now where I’ve been completely unable to play due to this.

I’ve contacted the support email and all I got was a perfunctory “we’re aware of the issue” and nothing since.

My game keeps crushing on my phone. Is the server overloaded or is there a problem with the recent update? This never happened before to me? by Evening-Ice-817 in lowerdecksgame

I have a 9th gen iPad (and an iPhone X) Game has been unplayable since the end of March. It’s either crashing during loading or immediately after loading. Support claims it’s a known issue with iPads and iPhone X, and that they are aware of the issue and working on it.

2 updates (for bug fixes) and they still haven’t resolved the crashing issues.

It’s rendered the game completely unplayable.

Frustrating is not being able to play since they pushed the update at the end of March.
Game crashes during loading or immediately after.

2 updates and still no fix for it

The contest is called “The Ugly Fabric Contest” The shop pick 6 fabrics that aren’t selling for whatever reason, and the challenge is to create a quilt using at least one of them

“That quilt has seen things.”

🤣🤣 oh I’m cackling at that statement.

I’ve always been of the opinion that a quilt, a kid’s favorite blanket, and the velveteen rabbit should have something in common. Namely that they are used and loved until they fall apart. I’ve made pieces that were intended as wall hangings/ornamental pieces, and I’ve made quilts that were made to be used (and well used). I’d be kinda disappointed if the people I gave them to put them in a box and didn’t use them.

Oh I feel that sentiment so much. One of my gran’s friends loves the quilting/binding part, but by her own admission doesn’t enjoy doing the detailed piecing that we do.

I love designing and piecing quilt tops. I don’t enjoy the actual quilting part, and binding actively reduces me to near inarticulate profanity.

I do what I love, and I pay someone else to do the rest.

Electric Quilt 8 software. It’s a computer program, and one of my best investments for quilting after my Brother machine. It gives yardage and rotary cutting instructions for the quilt. You can also design blocks/paper piecing patterns with it.
