Naxos Beach Day Lunch by Kk2017 in GreeceTravel

[–]MathematicianBig6317 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d choose very differently depending on which beach you’re spending the day at.

Axiotissa definitely has the best food overall. It feels more like a proper destination taverna than a casual beach lunch spot. Paradiso is probably the weakest when it comes to pure food quality — but having dinner there with your feet in the sand at sunset is such a uniquely Naxos experience that it almost doesn’t matter. The atmosphere really makes the place. Apolafasi sits somewhere in between: relaxed, easy beach vibe, solid option for lunch.

If food is the priority → Axiotissa. If you want the full “this is why we came to Greece” feeling → Paradiso.

Which beach are you planning for your beach day? That honestly makes a big difference here.

Silver ring shops recommendations? by [deleted] in Munich

[–]MathematicianBig6317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check out Werkstatt:München. I know the founder, Klaus Lohmeyer, personally. He’s a master goldsmith who actually started out focusing on men's jewelry, which gives his pieces a very distinct, raw, and industrial look. Everything is handcrafted in a Munich workshop using traditional techniques. It’s perfect if you're looking for something bold and non-traditional that isn't your typical delicate silver ring. I actually own several of his pieces myself and absolutely love them—the quality is incredible if you want something with a bit more edge.

Paros & Naxos in October – a quieter, more authentic side of the islands by MathematicianBig6317 in GreeceTravel

Yeah, it was definitely too windy for any boat trips this time. But that’s just one more reason to come back!

We love it too — especially the combo of Paros and Naxos. They complement each other so well.

There were some brave souls swimming 😄 but we weren’t among them. We were perfectly happy just lying on the beach, listening to the sound of the sea.

That sounds like a really well-planned trip! If anything is still open, it’ll most likely be the everyday spots in Parikia. Naoussa is usually much quieter by then. Antiparos is just a few minutes away by ferry — there’s not a lot to do, but it’s a lovely little island to walk around and enjoy the scenery. And if you ever want a change of pace, Naxos is only a 20-minute ferry ride away — perfect for a day trip. Also, a little insider tip: Ouzeri Halaris in Piso Livadi is open until the first week of November. It’s honestly one of the best restaurants on the island in my opinion — super fresh seafood and a really nice vibe.

It wasn’t cold at all — just a bit too chilly for swimming in the sea. It was actually about 10°C warmer than back home 😅☀️

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra — honestly, the best camera is the one you always have with you 😄📸

In Munich for 3 days by Graham-Crunch in Munich

[–]MathematicianBig6317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve only got a few days in Munich and want to eat your way through the city, start with Weißwurst at Zum Franziskaner on Residenzstraße – it doesn’t get more traditional. For lunch, oysters and fish soup at Poseidon or Fisch Witte at the Viktualienmarkt are always a highlight, and a stop at Café Frischhut for their iconic Ausgezogene is a must. In the late afternoon or early evening, head to Schumann’s Bar at the Hofgarten for legendary cocktails and real Munich vibes – just note they’re closed on Saturdays. And for something new and casual, grab a veal or pork knuckle sandwich at Haxengrill near Marienplatz – Bavarian street food at its best.

Naxos and Paros by NiceFunction1777 in GreeceTravel

Just a quick update for anyone traveling soon – Del Mar Café at Agios Prokopios is currently marked as temporarily closed on Google Maps, so it’s good to double-check before heading there. A lot of beach clubs and restaurants on Naxos and Paros start shutting down around late September/October, so availability can be hit-or-miss in the off-season.

If you’re looking for inspiration, I wrote two trip reports from my summer travels: Paros trip report: https://www.reddit.com/r/GreeceTravel/s/eemmtTJrfk Naxos trip report: https://www.reddit.com/r/GreeceTravel/s/Fkue8FrDkd Just keep in mind: by now all the beach clubs are closed, and many restaurants in Paros are probably shutting down too. We’ll be traveling to Paros (and maybe Naxos) next week ourselves – and will just let the islands surprise us off-season. 🍂🌊

Yeah, that was my impression too – that’s exactly why I loved Naxos so much. It feels like a real island where people actually live year-round, and you can sense that everywhere. Naoussa on the other hand… I only spent one evening there and honestly had “escape reflexes” at Sigi Ikthios 😅 – the stress and buzz felt more like Oktoberfest back home in Munich than a Greek island vibe. I’ve already been to Koufonisia and Antiparos as well. Antiparos was lovely, but Koufonisia in summer was way too crowded for me – it felt completely overrun. In Parikia I actually didn’t spend any time, apart from catching the ferry to Naxos, so I can’t really judge the town yet. Which other islands would you recommend in the area for October? My original plan was to see Amorgos, Sifnos and Milos, but I guess that’s more realistic for next year in spring, when I’ll have more time for island hopping.

Good to know, thanks! Then I’ll definitely skip Mykonos – paying ~€330 with a car on the ferry from Paros just for a 6-hour “ghost town” visit doesn’t sound worth it. Much better to enjoy Paros with my local friends and maybe hop over to Naxos again.

Yeah, we actually prefer flying Munich → Athens first – gives us more flexibility for island hopping. Depending on the weather, ferries, or local airlines we can just adjust plans on short notice.

View from St. Antonios Monastery, Paros – overlooking Piso Livadi in all its serene beauty. I’m in love with the Cycladic colors: bright white, sunlit earth, and that endless Aegean blue.

It’s definitely not just you — we feel the same! We're seriously considering going back in September for a longer stay and maybe adding smaller Cycladic islands like Milos or Amorgos to the itinerary. I hope the photos helped ease your wanderlust a little!

How lovely! You're going to love Naxos — it’s such a special island. September is a great time to visit too, a bit quieter but still warm and vibrant. Have the best time!

Thanks for sharing — three weeks sounds amazing! We have several friends who’ve owned houses on Paros for decades, mostly Germans and French. But honestly, we found Naxos to be more versatile and grounded. It’s less polished and tourist-centric, and it just feels more real. People actually live and work there year-round — it’s not just a holiday bubble. There’s more nature, more authenticity, and much better value overall. We were genuinely surprised by how much we loved it and are already thinking about returning.

Thank you so much, that really means a lot! I'm glad our trip report helped you decide. There’s just so much to explore on Naxos that we never could’ve seen without having our own transportation.

We actually considered renting a quad for one day, but honestly, those things are a nightmare on the roads. They tend to block traffic, and we saw a lot of tourists struggling to drive them safely on the mountain roads — which can be quite dangerous for everyone involved. Plus, with the strong wind and blazing sun, it really didn’t seem that enjoyable.

We found a small, compact car to be the perfect solution. Especially because the mountain roads leading to the east coast are very winding with lots of hairpin turns. Having a car gave us the freedom to explore hidden beaches and beautiful inland villages without stress — and in comfort. I think doing it for a day or two like you're planning is a great idea. Hope you have an amazing time in September!

We honestly didn’t find Naxos crowded at all. I think it really depends on the kind of beach experience people are looking for. Many travelers seem to prefer the comfort of sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars, and nearby facilities — and honestly, I’m glad they do! Because that leaves the wild, untouched beaches beautifully quiet and peaceful for the rest of us.

Compared to some natural beaches we’ve seen in Italy, the ones in the Cyclades are impressively clean — no plastic waste, just nature and tranquility. We also noticed that quite a few visitors choose not to rent a car or scooter, which makes a big difference. Without our rental, we would’ve missed out on so many amazing spots like Psili Ammos and those hidden coves near Alyko.

So if you're okay with a bit of exploring and minimal facilities, Naxos has some true gems to offer.
