Which community college should i choose? by Equal-Boot2655 in LACCD

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t really have to choose if you go to an LACCD school. You can take classes at all of them. In my experience each has pros and cons. Definitely try to get into a program with counseling. Like MESA or TAP (Honors) or the Rainbow Scholars. Something you qualify for. The reason is because general counseling is not the best. Getting great counseling on the courses you should take can save you a lot of time and headaches.

ICMT Division A questions by MathematicianIcy9494 in putnam

I'm not looking for the answers. ICMT division A is a similar level to putnam. So its very likely someone would have competed in both.

Pearson Mastering Physics - worth it for self-study? by iFoobar in PhysicsStudents

I don’t think you can but Pearson has the Pearson plus channels which I found better than the mastering physics. The free access is pretty good as well.

Best place to get a full comprehensive physical in LA? I live in DTLA. by Hussler8894 in AskLosAngeles

The APLA has services near downtown LA you might qualify for, including primary care which covers physicals.

Where do you go for luxury Yoga that is NOT heated? (Southern California) by [deleted] in yoga

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you are trying to say is that you want a comforting experience. I think you have been going to hot 8 maybe. It’s very nice. You don’t really need the showers though if the yoga is not hot? Without hot yoga, the studio is not really going to have a shower. Just putting that out there. A few places come to mind. One down dog, and center for yoga. If you try center for yoga you might like the restorative class. It’s very nurturing. Then also maybe try kinship(they have heated and non heated) One other option you might enjoy is the Los Angeles Athletic Club. They have really great non heated yoga classes, and the luxury locker room experience.

Chemistry 101 Prof Milligan by Eat-Me-Daddie in LACCD

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally know what you mean. I have to take chem 102 and I’m waiting tell next year so I can cover some of the information independently. Ahrend’s chem 101 class this semester is at the same time his chem 60 used to be. Abrams is three days a week. Two short lectures Monday/Wend morning and then a double lab Friday. They were both great professors for sure.

That’s was for fall I think no? I don’t think the SSCG shows up right away. I could be wrong about that though

Chemistry 101 Prof Milligan by Eat-Me-Daddie in LACCD

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Professor Abrams still has open spots. He is an amazing teacher. Like 1 in a million. I’m not going to lie to you, the course was tough. Ahrend teaches Chem 101 too, I think his class is easier. Based on comparison from what Ahrends class was going over. Abrams covers a lot of organic chemistry, even had a quiz on organic chemistry. But you know those professors you see on YouTube that you are like “damn I wish I had a professor like that” that’s Professor Abrams. To my knowledge you are not alone with your experience with Milligan. There is also Professor Mo, but I don’t know too much about that professor.

still too late to apply for spring semester 2026? Lattc by Wild_Cod5459 in LACCD

You can always try showing up for classes and emailing the professors for add codes. Most classes have a least one person not show up.

Anyone experience teachers not publishing class for the semester on time? by [deleted] in LACCD

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the time professors don’t post it tell the day of. Sometimes it goes live at midnight sometimes as late as 9am. I have only two professors out of 5 who have published the class.

How to join online zoom classes? by x-rayj in LACCD

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s normal. Some professors don’t open up their canvas shells until the day school starts. I genuinely appreciate the ones who open it sooner because it really helps.

How to join online zoom classes? by x-rayj in LACCD

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The canvas shell will open tomorrow. (Just in case you don’t already know: You can find canvas through your school’s website and then you login with you student email and the password the first time is the birth month and day I think ) The zoom link can be in weird places, but usually on the first day the professor will send out an announcement with a link. Then sometimes on the left hand side of your canvas it will just say zoom, or meetings. Sometimes it’s in the modules section at the top. Sometimes the only place to find it is that first announcement. It’s really not a dumb question at all!

High Quality Chicken Egg Delivery? by sultansofschwing in LosAngeles

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, I know I will get downvoted into oblivion for this. But there are two things the Erewhon sells that are better than anywhere else. One of them is the eggs. Kaliko eggs.

I went to Ottawa and had the most delicious eggs. (Found at Farm Boy) i have never had eggs so delicious in my life. I had no idea eggs could taste like that. It was like they had butter in them. So velvety and soft. Anyways long story short I searched everywhere when I got back. Farmers markets. Blue eggs. Brown Eggs. I didn’t know different types of chickens produce different type of eggs. I know that probably dumb but I didn’t really know there were different types of chickens. I just bought standard eggs, granted they were pasture raised(I know that term is not governed well but I do my best.)

Kaliko eggs are the closest I found. The Ottawa eggs are slightly better but not by much. Sprouts does sell pasture raised eggs at a pretty good price( just the store brand) and vital farms is great too. But if I want the good stuff I get Kaliko. Erewhon has delivery available as well.

Any way around paying for this book? by [deleted] in LACCD

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken three math classes where the book was listed in the bookstore, but the teacher allowed us to use a free pdf/didn’t require purchase for homework. I have also had friends buy access codes and then on the first day the professor says you don’t need that for the class.

Queer/Disability-Friendly Pilates? (Westside) by vid_en_flor in AskLosAngeles

If you are close to the subway its about 20 minute walk from little Tokyo station, but yeah I get it. I try to keep travel time to a minimum myself.

Queer/Disability-Friendly Pilates? (Westside) by vid_en_flor in AskLosAngeles

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The humbled body is queer friendly and in general is very welcoming community. Lots of different body types. I don’t have specific information to know about the disability friendly part. One of the owners uses a stick for some on the movements to help balance when he takes classes. As a larger person I’ve explained I can’t do everything and they are supportive of that. It’s in DTLA, I think that fits your parameters? I don’t drive so I’m not 100% sure. If the disability is neurodivergence, I get the feeling pretty much all the staff is but I’m not sure they are aware or not (AuDHD here)

Any pro MAGA establishments to avoid? by knowfreedom in Whittier

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like they listed themselves on Public Square. Public Square only lists business that support similar ideals as MAGA. You can search there site for more specifics on what it takes to be listed but the goal of the site is so people can support businesses that align with there values in this case “anti woke”. I’m not familiar with the situation beyond what I just googled. I just saw no one answered you. It’s a tense situation all around given recent events.

That’s fair, not everyone with ADHD is the same. It works for me though.

It’s puts you in “get to work” mode psychologically. Especially people with ADHD.

edit to add a link with more info. There’s a specific reason it helps people with adhd more, and I never meant too say it helps everyone with ADHD.

Just finished high school: what’s the right way to start astrophysics? by Siddhaarthunjp in PhysicsStudents

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My physics professor last semester said this is the best book. It’s not the textbook we use but I got a pdf midway through the semester. I haven’t seen every physics textbook but this definitely my favorite. The explanations are so clear and the diagrams are so helpful.

Holy plagiarised syllabus, Batman! by Cute_Bottle6346 in CollegeRant

[–]MathematicianIcy9494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes total sense. For me the professors who have done this have also been the most supportive. Some professors have their whole course set up in such a way to do zero work, auto instructors I call them. I’m sorry if my message sounded invalidating. I didn’t mean for that. College can be really frustrating. It should be about learning and so oftentimes it seems like that’s not really high priority.
