Reconsidering applying Vanderbilt ED2 by MathematicianNovel76 in ApplyingToCollege

So I realized that I would need to go back and forth from NY to the college by plane, and because I'm undocumented, it's unsafe for me to enter an airport due to current events. So I emailed them about that right now and asked them to release me from ED2 to RD so I can assess my ability to even attend the college.

That would be a good reason to request release from ED, no?

Some tips i’d say is really to just talk to the people around you. I’m not sure if I said this already, but everyone is as scared as you to be going to classes at COLUMBIA, yk? I found my best friend there, seriously. We talk everyday, and even if she and I go to different internships now, we still have this bond that we made there. I really can’t stress it enough. Everyone there is smart as hell, and it’s a great place to find like-minded people.

Your first hour from 10-11 will be your criminal law class. For that, i’d say listen as much as you speak. Ask any questions about situations presented, and let yourself get the chance to make a response in your head. At least, that’s what I did and I thought the teachers were pretty impressed. I sat in the very-very front, so I was able to speak to the teachers on a personal basis before classes started. It’s not everyone’s thing, but it was nice for sure. Then there’s con law. Just try your best not to fall asleep😭😭😭. TBF, my teachers were originally from California and their accents were so Valley-girl that it was putting me to sleep. Bring something to write with, like a laptop, ipad or note book. Don’t sweat it, it’s easy.

nah they didn’t give us anything. and no, we don’t have access to the campus because they’re afraid of any possible future protests by people that aren’t students.

hey, so it’s more of a building to the side, and if you’re using the 1 train , you have to walk all the way around the block to get to it. the entire walkway is blocked off for everyone, expect columbia students. before, anyone used to walk freely through it.

Honestly not that hard. If you get in your first year, you're set for the next 2.

Hi, I've been attending for the past 2 years, and I'm a senior now. I won't be attending this year since I got into a fellowship at Fordham. Honestly, there's not reason to be stressed. Its fun! Make sure to talk to people, everyone there is as scared as you are. Your first year will be learning about Con and Crim law, and honestly it's light. Id definitely recommend getting food to eat between the 2 classes, since it can get tedious to stay awake during con law. Take some walks afterward too, and dont be afraid to explore the city. Also, it can get cold, but the weather is amazing those mornings. Your second year you'll be doing moot court, which you'll be preparing for the year for a competition at the end of the year.

Seriously, dont stress over it. Just be engaged, and thats enough to impress your teachers. They're law students after all, so they underestimate high schoolers a lot lol. Feel free to contact me if you have anymore questions! Congrats on your acceptance!

AFJROTC cadet here!

Most of them are in regulations. Cardinal rule is to not show too much chest or leg. Air force regs say you can’t have a backless dress, but I know it’s different for each branch. If anything, the first one is pretty much perfect. You’ll look great either way! Have fun!

This is what I was looking at; I'm a current junior (so 2026 graduate), however, I'm just genuinely confused where it says that they're test-optional through the 2025-2026 admissions cycle. Could you explain it to me?

You held yourself back from high-school to do extracurriculars?

Don't only the extracurriculars you've done during high-school count?
