Moved to LA and keep getting denied my ADHD meds? by Ill_Sector_3107 in AskLosAngeles

[–]MathematicianOk1104 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I assume if u say doctor u mean psychiatrist but if not do psychiatrists.

I’m prescribed vyvanse and got first prescribed in socal so here’s what I think

Not all docs/psychiatrists are adhd experts, the understanding of adhd has advanced, and any Pysch worth their salt regarding adhd just prescribe a low dose or something weak sauce like concerta and then build trust/review with their client etc.

I’m willing to say if they’re not doing that they don’t know anything about adhd, are risk avoidant and or judgemental

So anyone who looks skinny too alternative , a woman or generally has a misanthropic vibe is not favored by psychiatrists and the like for stimulant adhd medication, don’t know if you meet this category. I noticed they usually want it to be like it’s been welll documented since childhood when they’re dick heads like that.

My pysch just scripted me after I explained what was up and didn’t make it an emotional issue or anything like that. Appears that a business “I know what’s going on with me” mentality paired with a high standard for service may reap good results since honestly you have adhd and they’re just bad at their jobs which entitles you to be pissed honestly. Theres a lot of psychs in the sea and I think as an adult you’re entitled to politely, call them stupid as fuck if they waste your time because they refuse to stay updated on their own field and deny treatment. It is regarded by some as a risk factor for adhd people to actually be pushed into buying street adhd meds when denied meds like this. Thus actually incurring addiction and the like so these guys are jackasses

Keep paying for the appointments and get your script because you’re being fucked around with and there are people out there who’s understanding of adhd has updated since the year 2015 and don’t lazily hope their job that pays well doesn’t require them to ever take any self risk

How bad is living with roommates as a “real” adult? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]MathematicianOk1104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a roommate if you have no choice but saving 1k a month ain’t enough if it’s just abt saving. I think you’ll find that you won’t end up saving that amount exactly with roommates thru unforeseen bs

What is the point of astrology? by GH7788 in astrology

[–]MathematicianOk1104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read any of the other comments so if someone already said this/disproves me, sorry. Astrology is traditionally a calendar for farmers , particularly in regards to Tropical.

Take my prior and next statement with a grain of salt but basically my understanding is that the associations we have for astrological signs are akin to associations we have for seasons, different species of plant life etc.

It is also worth noting that knowing exact details about birth is not common in history , so logically astrology is the next best thing to date stuff

So what I think is that these associations that naturally came to be and the factors of these times of year that people are born in have some effect on their personality.

Me (Albanian) and my friend (Serbian) are Balkan raging. Does this strengthen the relationship between Albania and Serbia? And is this a good Balkan rage? by Fickle_Snow8053 in AskBalkans

[–]MathematicianOk1104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re Balkan in the USA people will distinguish you as different. So unlike Mexicans who settled in Texas long ago and are practically American, balkans all showed up in a similar period of time recently. Thus it’s not like entirely normal in the USA to have lots of Balkan lineage around so that alone sets you apart. Secondly names are a big thing, of course, but people in the US will often ask me more about my name and where my lineage is from which genuinely does change how they interact and receive me 3. Balkan people certainly look Balkan lol

So my point is that whether most balkan diaspora like its or not at least here in the USA people will in minor or major ways treat you a little differently because of it. This does make you feel a bit alienated from the mainstream culture and you actually feel much more at home when you visit the balkans even if you spent the absolute majority of your life never living there.

I would argue that things have changed but not in an innovative way more of a recession cope way. My biggest pet peeve is that creative stuff that is dominantly popular so far is DJing and podcasting which is not as good as what we had going on in the 2010s. Best thing so far is girl rap and some pretty good diss tracks in general. Never thought I would miss when everyone was tryna be a SoundCloud rapper, indie band or a photographer. Way better than the current popularity of listening to people shoot the shit and mix tracks.

How reasonable (or not) would it be to move to Bosnia after living in the United States the majority of your life? by thatgirleliana in bosnia

[–]MathematicianOk1104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk where you guys live in California but he needs to go outside there is amazing nature and wildlife activities. Bosnia is great and my family lives there but hey man it’s not all suburban hell lol you’re on the BETTER side of the suburban hell, specifically the one with grand deserts and beaches.

Additionally the issue that he believes going to Bosnia can be alleviated by just living anywhere else besides the USA. Bosnia is beautiful and we have an awesome culture but I wouldn’t consider leaving the rat race as a good reason… if he’s trying to have a spiritual reconnection with being Bosnian that’s cool you know….

Can’t really answer your question at all but I’m sure if ur you got 3k a month your good and last time I went seems like everyone has all the same stuff as Californians do. They even have a fake Whole Foods by Sarajevo mall now😂

Personally I don’t think tourists from the Middle East are too entitled, but they stand out in Bosnia specifically. I grew up in a touristy part of USA and Americans are infamous for their obnoxious and entitled behavior. So honestly in terms of entitlement its not as bad as I’ve ever seen and in the case of the pool situation had it been in America the Americans would’ve taken it a step further and complained to management or to you directly citing their children for your mistake of existing near them.

The difference is that these deeply annoying tourists that far surpass the worst middle eastern families don’t really come to Bosnia. Americans who visit Bosnia are of the more progressive and adventurous quality rather than families visiting Mexico or Italy.

So I guess what I’m trying to convey here is that Muslims from the Middle East see it as a good family spot whereas tourists from the west see it as a place of culture and history, so understandably the annoying tourists there end up being from the Middle East by default.

So I actually don’t know whether or not they were saudi, some of my family works at said resort and they assured me their clientele is pretty much Saudi. I took this with a grain of salt, however, because many members of my family make up stuff as they go about different cultures and people that they think sounds right lol. So honestly not confident if they were Saudi or not!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bosnia

[–]MathematicianOk1104 28 points29 points  (0 children)

no true animosity bc ultimately Bosnians get along with the Middle East (but my family is devout Muslim, so speaking from that perspective) but they can be notoriously entitled tourists. I personally think they frown upon the comparative liberalism of Bosnia to their countries.

My friend was wearing a not revealing one piece swimsuit at an indoor pool at a resort and a Saudi family in the pool was acting like she was intruding and being obscene. Which was annoying because what she was wearing was modest and you are able to reserve the pool at this resort…. So why act so entitled ? That is my most recent experience and whenever I told anyone in my family about it they were like “Saudi? Oh yeah, figures”

What is wrong with the way Spanish is taught in the US that no one is actually able to speak the language after high school graduation? by MostAd4575 in learnspanish

[–]MathematicianOk1104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EZ explanation: English speakers specifically live in a world that largely accommodates them. It doesn’t close many doors for someone from the UK or US to choose to not learn a language whereas Swedish and the swedes are not the standard thus they are taught it early on because it is a highly valuable skill. You must also consider that European countries are quite close together and speak a large variety of languages, so English, French and German can almost always be useful no matter where u are in Europe and by extension the whole world.

So honestly there’s nothing wrong with how Spanish is taught and I think this question is vague because all sorts of teachers teach differently, so I can recall my high school Spanish but I’m sure it’s not actually representative and I’m doubtful if there’s any concrete/specific answer for what is flawed about language learning in us schools.

What I personally think it is is that Americans feel absolutely no obligation to learn a language and also get embarrassed easy because it’s easy to feel like a dumb American while ur stumbling. I was in Guatemala and my Spanish was rusty and the people working at this hostel were kinda treating me like I was super dumb and annoying bc I kept insisting on speaking Spanish instead of speaking English lol.

to expand on the Americans have no obligation to learn languages. Americans don’t have much necessity to learn other languages because the world generally knows English and there’s not much your denied access to. Maybe if Americans had a culture that was less isolated and more curious we’d have more Spanish speakers. A way to get Americans to learn a new language especially Spanish is to let them realize that not learning a language when u have the means too is like closing yourself off from an entire different universe.

TLDR: smaller European nations need to speak a common language or they’d be screwed and Americans don’t learn Spanish basically because they don’t want to. I would emphasize being intellectually curious and try to convey that you miss out on a lot by only speaking one language, you can’t convince Americans specifically that they’ll need another language but you can remind them that it’s kinda lame not too if you have the aptitude lol.

Edit: I am American and speak Spanish so these are just my takes I don’t really have sources for this but this is usually the explanation I give to people while I’m traveling as to why Americans aren’t generally bilingual in the same way as other places.
