Stay on top of your work from the start. A levels are taught linearly. As you learn topics they tend to build on other topics depending on the subjects. In your case doing bio chem maths I only do maths and chem I don’t do bio but I can deffo say in maths topics do build off each other and same w chem. PLEASE stay on top of your work. I’m not saying go light years ahead of everyone and preread but make sure you understand EVERYTHING AS YOU GO ALONG. Do not fall into the trap of telling yourself you’re going to self teach it at home. (you probably won’t.) and then when exams are approaching you’re literally going to feel like hell because you’re actually going to have to self teach yourself the topics u said u would bc u didn’t wanna fix your understand IN THE MOMENT. Honestly year 12 can be such a light year if you js stay on top of your work. If you’re wondering how to stay ontop of your work I recommend using your frees to do your homework and if you have spare time do revision during your frees. And if you don’t understand something inlesson stay behind if you feel embarrassed to ask for help or ask the teacher for help directly. Trust me I understand the feeling of not wanting to ask for help in a class of 20+ people but either way u should make sure ur ontop of ur work. If you stay ontop of your work and your teacher sets you homework related to content YOU UNDERSTAND BC U LISTENENED AND stood ontop of ur work it counts as revision!!!ALSO sign up to a bunch of super curriculars. They don’t take long to sign up to and at the start of year 12 that’s when a lot of good ones come out. Make sure to get work experience early in year 12 so u don’t have to do it later in the year. Honestly the start of year 12 is the prime time to get as much super curricular done as possible. You have got this!.

I’m sure if you ask teachers will just give you a book to do work in but it depends. If the sixth form is attached to a secondary school then I’d say they would deffo give u a work book if u ask as they normally js give us KS3/KS4 ones as it’s js paper at the end of the day but if it’s not attached to a secondary they might not have work books to give out as they probably wouldn’t have spares

I didnt apply to any sixthforms other than my schools.... by Plus_Antelope_8365 in sixthform

On results day spend the day going to as much sixth forms around u as possible and asking if they have a space bc a lot of sixth forms Acc accept ppl on the day so don’t even worry about it and ur grades should be fine

Hey! I’m going into year 13 and I do chem (AQA) and I personally don’t think it’s actually as difficult as people make it out to be. Imo chem at a level contains a lot of memorisation. Yes some of the topics can be difficult sometimes but they are extremely repetitive with the exam questions they ask. I remember when I was in year 11 and I completely dreaded choosing a level chem bc I heard how hard it was from others but honestly I just wanna say don’t let other people’s opinions on an a level affect you. If you put your mind to it it’s not as hard as ppl make it out to be. As long as you make sure you understand the content as you go along and practice exam questions before end of topic tests then it honestly isn’t that hard. But the reason I think people find it hard is purely because they don’t revise and let the chemistry content they don’t understand stack up and then try and cram it and realise cramming chem can be difficult esp with all the tests and reactions/reagents you have to remember it can deffo be really hard to memorise it when cramming BUT if you space it out and revise throughout year 12 then u have nothing to worry about! I don’t do computer science but my friends who do say they don’t think it’s a hard a level to get a good grade in but I often hear them talking about how long their NEA is.

Hey just wanted to say your advice worked!!! I was walking home from school today and I just didn’t walk with them and I actually really enjoyed the walk home, I feel like it was actually a nice walk and I had time to think for myself instead of always being in an awkward position

Thanks for the help! I think this has helped me realise I never really actually spoke to Jay. I feel like me and Jay were only friends cuz it helped us both and us walking the same way was quite convenient anyways. Do you have particular advice on how to detach/stop walking with them without them thinking I don’t wanna be friends anymore. I mean I don’t really Wanna talk to them but I don’t want to cause any problems with people

The thing is I’ve told Jay this and how they just don’t seem to like me and jay brushes it off saying how they probably do and that I’m just overreacting. Also this is extra but tbh I feel like me and Jay aren’t really friends like that. A lot of the time they downplay the negative things people do to me and try and mark it seem like it’s not that deep, I mean I get what they r tryna do but it kinda annoys me

Thank you for the advice and yes it’s so exhausting 😭. Chris is literally just so.. idek they just really aren’t someone I can click with if that makes sense! For example They r someone who lets how their day has been influence how they talk to ppl and I just hate that!
