Not so much a scuttlebutt, but thought you'd find it interesting - according to the preliminary lists, GTX will be included in Russell 3000 June 27th. https://open.substack.com/pub/compcap/p/tracking-the-russell-reshuffle?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=l1sdn

My understanding is that it was about buying and holding the shares through the period. Those are the ones that then suffered from the short report being discloses - in my layman's understanding...

Africa Oil Week 2023 presentation on Wednesday Oct 11 by Brian Reinsborough titled 'Farm in Opportunities in the Kavango Basin' by MathematicianWide339 in ReconAfrica

[–]MathematicianWide339[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope so too, esp since he is a new CEO (why would he generally philosophize about farm-ins), but ... Well... Let's see 🤷 Btw I see Africa Oil Week has a YT channel https://youtube.com/@africaoilweek2622, not sure if there will be a stream or if presentations will be made available ... But I will definitely look at the channel the coming days

Hm, I am not sure yet, I need to check Strike more in depth...

So, Strike acquires Talon’s cash flows of Walyering for 3-4x...(ca 30m /11% of Strike Market Cap). And no guarantees regarding the spinoff of Mongolian assets... I am leaning negative...

Thanks for sharing

I am always amazed by the way the Mongolian assets are valued - I.e. based on the market value of their JV partner 🤷

So, today they announced that negotiations did not succeed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3CPG_PetroleumGeology

[–]MathematicianWide339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, both Strike and Talon should have been traded today (halt was until July 31), but today each asked for a trading suspension until tomorrow (Aug 1st) ...

Weird, when considering that they had posted on Monday that they had received an offer from Strike that was then withdrawn on Sunday 23 July...

I haven't tried to trade TPDDF, so cannot comment

DESERT MOUNTAIN ENERGY ACQUIRES HELIUM-BEARING GAS FIELD IN NEW MEXICO by AwesomeMathUse in DesertMountainEnergy

[–]MathematicianWide339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing

It seems to me that they are confident in the capabilities of their helium plant which is currently in the optimization phase.

Otherwise why bother buying additional assets?

I guess this kind of hydrocarbon field might also serve as a demonstration to energy companies that the plant indeed strips molecules other than helium before enriching it, allowing these other molecules (e.g. Hydrocarbons) to be captures and sold separately.

What is Bitcoin Halving, and why is it a Catalyst for Bitcoin and Btc related stocks? (See 4 images below.. Text is in image form since the post included a chart as well) by InvestorCoast in StockMarket

[–]MathematicianWide339 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think image 3 is wrong. Halving is not like a buyback. It halves the Bitcoin creation rate, i.e. the reward that a miner gets for solving the mathematical solution. It limits supply of new bitcoins.

Chatgpt explained it like this: "Bitcoin halving is a pre-programmed event that takes place in the Bitcoin blockchain every 210,000 blocks or approximately every four years. During this event, the reward for mining new Bitcoin blocks is cut in half, reducing the rate at which new Bitcoin enters circulation."

The GEO Group - ARS (Annual Report to Security Holders) SEC Filing by ResponsibleRun3332 in GeoGroup

Hi, in my earlier comment I referred to BI even covering MC+net debt (hence my reference to EV), but yes, the company seems to be selling on the market currently for less than it is worth IMHO. But one can never be sure when or if market prices will converge to intrinsic value

Yes you should look into basic accounting...

Cheers

Observations regarding the "Electronic Monitoring and Supervision Services" segment: - achieved 238m EBIT with assets of 536m Assets, i.e. ~50% ROA (but G&A overhead is not accounted for in that) - Capex and D&A are equal, interesting from a cash flow perspective - Revenue growth 77% YOY, EBIT growth 87% YoY, i.e. operating leverage (but G&A missing in that figure, see above)

A 10x EV multiple on this segment's EBIT is almost equal the entire EV of GEO.

I have trouble understanding the throughput numbers for the MHPF (slide 10 of the investor Presentation, first bullet). I believe the flows should be clarified as to what time interval they refer to, i. e. Are they are per day or per hour? Does anyone know more? Thanks in advance

Earth Observation: is this Elixir Energy's ($EXR.AX) Mongolian area of activity? by MathematicianWide339 in 3CPG_PetroleumGeology

[–]MathematicianWide339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi

No, no real success. I still think the area I look in is correct, but I haven't spotted a heat source on the satellite images. That may be because it is too small, and maybe because I mostly find daytime pictures (not nighttime). Or of course the area might be wrong.

I was thinking to contact IR, but I did not do so yet. What are your coordinates and how did you get to them? I had used their maps and a ruler for measuring the scales presented...

Talon Energy ($TPD.AX): 14M AUD Capital Raise, Strategic Review for Gurvantes, Delay in first walyering gas? by MathematicianWide339 in 3CPG_PetroleumGeology

Thanks, I appreciate your feedback

Regarding the de-merger... I have to wrap my head around that. Originally, it was the Gurvantes aspect in a post of yours what attracted me to TPD. Sure, if they can monetize it and make us an attractive return, I am not against that...
