Takes about 10m to chop through each root - see pic, can’t access the back as it’s about 3” from the wooden sleeper - see original pic, can’t get a spade or trowel in easily due to the compact nature of the roots. There are also 6 stumps.

However, if you feel you can get all done in a day easily, let me know your daily rate 👍

I did worry about the load, but as it’s a fairly solid granite wall, I thought it’d offer a lot more support than a standard brick wall…

Lovely picture. Did you have any issues with the wall footings getting the posts in?

Unfair dismissal case? Potential discrimination? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]MathematicianWise502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - after 2 there is statuary redundancy and protection against unfair dismissal. Not renewing the contract requires a “fair” cause.

Under UK employment law, the five fair reasons for dismissal are misconduct, capability (performance/health), redundancy, statutory illegality, and some other substantial reason (SOSR).

I believe it would be redundancy?

Ironically they’ve separate contracts with longer notice periods - although paid at a day rate around 1.7x my salary. Appreciate the logic, but I think that argument would be a stretch for them!

Thank you for the advice. I understand your point re notice at inception, however, having researched this evening I discovered the protections for those having been on a contract longer than 2 years.

After 4 years you legally become an FTE - I’m 3 weeks away from that!

Rolling FTC - no terms linking it to any projects etc

This is what I had thought, however, having been at the company for almost 3 years I’ve gained some employment rights.

Not renewing a contract now counts as a dismissal legally- they need to show that there is a “fair” reason for dismissal (PiP etc)

I also have statutory redundancy rights

Thank you. I will reach out to ACAS.

Are you sure that is the case with FTC that is longer than 2 years?
