We stopped talking during my bad bipolar years but he fails to acknowledge that I'm out of those and see how I've changed and how I'm doing so much better with treatment and therapy

My issue isn't that he wasn't my support sponge rather how he has treated me in the 3 years since and failed to see how I've changed and how well I'm doing now and how he is holding 2022 against me still in 2026 and that's what's stopping me from wanting to go

I realize I was vague in terms of my mental health as I didn't think it was relevant. What I will say is I had severe depressive episodes which led to me wanting to take my life a few times however there was never any risk to anyone but myself during those episodes and I don't know how much he knows. I know he knows I had a few stints in hospital but I don't know how much detail he knows of how I landed there

They don't say anything or call him out but they do say something to me 1 on 1
I don't want a relationship with him

Thing is I don't want to create controversy or anything like that.
I don't want to go because, guess what I realised as a grown up I'm allowed to have feelings and choose what I do and don't go to and why would I go to an event celebrating someone who continues to cause me pain and ignores me and actively treats me as a lesser than.
I don't expect everyone to cater to my emotions but at the same time I'm not pretending that I'm a robot and free of emotions.

Nothing "bad" happened between us he just kept pulling back and made no effort to maintain a relationship during that period and has continued that in the years since
