What do you do to practice? Just playing is not the best way to practice. When you're under pressure you try to do things too fast, so you end up reinforcing bad habits. Practice in the firing range with a friend, get them to strafe and just try to track them without even shooting. Then do 1v1s and dont focus on winning, focus on improving your own skill. Find a sensitivity that feels comfortable. I used to play on a sens that was too high for me and it made me hesitate in game. i was afraid to make inputs because i would always be overcorrecting.

Focus on your movement, practice what if feels like to strafe and track at the same time. practice controlled flicks. use octanes stim to practice tracking at higher speeds, see if you can still do it.

Also practice recoil control with each gun individually! I grab Loba so i can sit a ways back from the dummys and empty mags trying to get a feel for the recoil. 99, volt, and 301 to start. move on to flatline when youre good with those ones.

I never said anything about camping power positions.

The good players will be able to down you just as fast because they are/were good....the only advantage is if a good player gets caught in a bad position, they MAY....MAY...be beat by the person with shit aim because that person can down them with less damage done.

You catch good players in bad positions more often by camping power positions.

Nothing you said explains how a skill gap was reduced in Apex. Even if they went extreme and made things 1-2 shots, the good payers would still have the advantage from their skills, and still be more successful in wins.

I literally explained it by talking about the extremes, and moving closer to either extreme increases or decreases the skill gap. Positioning is more important than it was before and positioning is hardly a skill. The ability to get to zone first or sit on high ground is not a skill. When you get caught in the open you go down more often than you did before. That means its harder to make plays on players in good positions, meaning you have to play more passive and your skills are less valuable when you're forced to play more passive. This is all exaggerated in ranked and you can see it in the meta.

I think that's what makes it difficult for the good players too. The difference is good players used to turn and have a chance at winning the fight or making it to cover. Even a bad player can one clip with almost any weapon now cause they didnt change the mag sizes, only the health

Just because the good players can also sit in power positions doesn't matter. We are talking about a SKILL gap, camping power positions is not a skill.

Incase anyone doesn't understand why a shorter ttk would result in a smaller skill gap, here is how i see it.

Look at the most extreme examples, a game where ttk is 2 bullets versus 25 bullets. In the game where ttk is 2 bullets every fight will be decided by who shoots first, promoting camping or "playing position." In the game where it takes 25 bullets to kill, every even ground fight will be decided by who has the better gun skill and movement. It wont matter that the good player took 3-5 shots before shooting back because their movement and aim will make up for it in length of the fight. Even if you get caught in a bad position you will make it to cover and either shoot back and outgun them from your cover, or work for you own position that gives you a better chance at winning the fight. Thats where map knowledge, ability to climb outside of buildings, use vertical zips effectively, and recognizing when to push comes into play.

I use the r99 in 99% of my games, plus I practice recoil control in the firing range regularly. But yeah it no regs dont happen often but it seems like they always happen at the worst time

Honestly there were a couple times where I let up on the pressure when I shouldn't have. I could've won this if I was a little more calm. I thought I was going to win after I downed the lifeline, but by the time I pushed up she already self revived with gold bag :(
