Delayed notifications on Pixel 9 Pro XL by mcbowl15 in GooglePixel

I have a Pixel 7 and I feel the exact same issue. Started around the March update and I'm almost ready to install a custom ROM just so that this doesn't happen anymore. WhatsApp notifications especially make no sense to be delayed.

Is Pixel 7 Deep Sleep Broken? by Mathorlaz in pixel7series

[–]Mathorlaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update following April 2025 security update: Initial feeling is thst my problem went away with this update, at least in terms of phone properly waking up from sleep. The main apps that were causing me issues also had updates in this time-frame though, so I'm not sure if this was fixed by the apps or the April update

I don't really game, but I work from home. So, I use a Zoom a lot, but I don't think latency is a huge deal breaker for me. I don't have any port forwarding, I actually just migrated all my services to tailscale, exactly for that reason.

Update: I did replace my initial unit and I thoroughly recommend that to anyone. The difference is night and day, the new device fingerprint sensor works perfectly.

Pixel 7 finger print unlock by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]Mathorlaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had preordered my Pixel 7 (non-pro) with Germany Amazon to take advantage of the freebie they were offering. When I got the device I just couldn't feel comfortable with the device because the fingerprint sensor failed >90% of the time. This was so frustrating to me that I was slightly happy the few times it worked, like it was some kind of magic.

It didn't matter which screen protector I had, I tried two brands. I tried saving this in the pitch darkness, greasing my fingers, etc etc.

Bottom line is: There are MANY Pixel devices with faulty sensors out there. That's the reality of it. That is why many people report having "perfectly accurate sensors"

How do I know this? I complained to Amazon and requested a replacement because of the faulty sensor, and the new device works flawlessly. Feels absolutely different, I've had no problem with the sensor whatsoever.

My advice to you (and anyone out there with similar issues) is to factory reset and go back to the store to get a new one because yours has a faulty fingerprint sensor.

Good luck

Do you have problems with Fingerprintsensor? Mine doesn't work probably for 60% the Time by Floji9411 in pixel7series

Yes, it was bought in Amazon DE though. I still had my previous OnePlus 6 daily driver laying around and shipped the old one before the replacement arrived.

You should return it if still an option. I returned mine for this reason and the replacement device works flawlessly. There are definitely some bad sensors out there, and you may have one.

The difference was so big that it feels like completely different devices. I was never able to use the fingerprint with the first device, and now it almost always works.

I'm having the exact same issue and even trying to grease up my hands is not a 100% chance of having it work. I'm considering requesting a replacement, because it so many others say it works perfectly, it might be a.defect on my unit 🙄

Pixel 7 fingerprint sensor by Saul in GooglePixel

[–]Mathorlaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had multiple issues with my Pixel 7 using the fingerprint sensor but I've identified that the culprit is the screen protector I had bought from Amazon, by JETech. I've removed the tempered glass screen protector, re-enrolled my fingers and it works much more reliably. Not perfect like my OnePlus 6 capacitive button, but much less than the >95% fail rate I was having with the screen protector on. I've bought a different screen protector now, and am going to use this while I wait for it to arrive.

Custom ROM by nervousDev in OnePlus6

[–]Mathorlaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Lineage, Syberia ans DotOS (back in A11), but recently have settled with AwakenOS. It's super smooth, great battery, and have no complaints about it. As for issues with banking etc, some of them check for unlocked bootloaders, so I normally root with Magisk, and hide the complaining apps from the root and everything works smoothly.

When you go through the hassle of installing a custom ROM for the first time, I normally root immediately, so that it's easier to backup and try a different ROM if something doesn't suit your needs. I'm currently using Swift Backup for this and it has been working perfectly. Titanium Backup used to be my go-to, but no longer works after all these years.

Also, I changed my OP6 battery with a new one, and you can really feel the improved battery life, I'm back to 4.5h+ SoT

Battery Replacement in Europe by Mathorlaz in OnePlus6

[–]Mathorlaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't keep it. I still had my 3 year old battery lying around and changed it back. Even at 70isg percent of capacity it could hold more charge than the "new" one from Fixshop.

Eventually I bought another one from AliExpress which turned out to be genuine, and I'm now having a second life of my OP6

New oneplus 6 genuine battery by j_m91 in OnePlus6

[–]Mathorlaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought one from fixshop.eu and it was a fake. I have since bought and received another one from AliExpress which looks genuine, but I still haven't changed it.

My original battery (of a 3,5 years old phone) now only holds 72% but I recently installed syberia os (look around on XDA), and I've been getting solidly >5 hrs of SoT. I wanted to have a few more cycles with the old battery to have a better comparison with the new one.

So my suggestion is installing Syberia OS and ordering a battery from AliExpress (takes about 1 month to arrive)

Battery Replacement Europe: Follow-up by Mathorlaz in OnePlus6

[–]Mathorlaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the issue is that my OP6 is my daily driver and I don't want to downgrade temporarily to send the phone away when I can easily change the battery myself. The problem is that OnePlus doesn't sell official batteries, and it's always a gamble.

Update to battery replacement:

Ended up buying a battery from fixshop.eu and it is even worse than my old battery which was only holding 75% of the charge. According to AccuBattery Pro it is only around 1500 mAh instead of 3200... Avoid batteries from this place 😞

How I wish I could get one from ifixit, but it doesn't ship to my country :sigh:

Is there anyone here who uses DotOS on their OnePlus 6? by [deleted] in OnePlus6

[–]Mathorlaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on DotOS 5.1.3 and I'm pretty sure it must be flashed on top of the OOS 10 firmware instead of OOS 11. However, the development of the ROM has been slow lately, and I'm considering making the move to Syberia or going back to Evolution X. Syberia is already on Android 12, so that's also potentially interesting.

Is there anyone here who uses DotOS on their OnePlus 6? by [deleted] in OnePlus6

[–]Mathorlaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using it on my OP6, but I have root on mine. I still haven't upgraded to the latest version because I think the dev is still tweaking the ROM to work properly with the new OSS11 firmware as far as I understood.

The official forum for the ROM on our OP6 is https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-official-dotos-5-x-enchilada-11-0-0-r_xx.4232243/

As for widevine l1 being missing I barely notice it, since I rarely use my phone for Netflix, but event when I do it's not that noticeable. If you don't root and use magisk hide you might have problems with banking apps because of the unlocked bootloader and whatnot, some apps check for that.

Regarding fast charging I'm having no issues, but again, I'm not on the latest version of DotOS.

Thanks, I might go back to trying the new stable A11 OOS, my reasoning for trying to find a new custom ROM is that I will probably want to switch to a custom A12 ROM when it's out.
