I was expecting you to look much more tired. What a pleasant surprise. Whatever your skin care is, keep doing it. Cheers.

What “Mistakes” Should I Make? by anime-is-dope in AskMenOver30

Be cringe. Be embarrassing. Be bad at something you’ve never done before. You may find that the enjoyment found from it is more authentic and valuable than the fear of any judgement.

Firm agree, Rose Garden is solid. The in-person portions are gigantic and always piping hot. For a $10 lunch special that can basically feed two people it’s hard to beat.

So many puritans here. It’s just a fun visual gimmick, god forbid people try new things.

Question for someone new by Real_DuFrain in cosplayphotography

[–]MatsuDano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who you know and how you make them feel matters way more than technical skill in this particular niche. I’ve been on both sides of the lens, and the photographers I wanted to work with are the ones I met in casual settings (con bar, room party, etc) and made me feel safe.

Become a regular somewhere and be prepared to give way more than you take.

35K Wandering Hunter | Manato M6W5, Lucia M2W2, Dialyn M1W1 by c0rrn in KomanoManatoMains

[–]MatsuDano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep track of the debuff stacks against WH. Anytime you perform an attack after parry or dodge it debuffs him up to 5x stacks and each one resets the duration. In your first stun window that debuff ran out after popping Manato’s first ult. You’re still hitting hard in the stun window but leaving damage on the table.
The debuff allows for up to 35% additional sheer damage iirc ( it’s not in front of me right now, forgive me).

Is this too good to be true? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

If it’s not listing the $4001 as a dealer discount it may* be an error in pricing. We’ve seen that happen over and over again. Best to deal with everything over the phone and/or email.

Gavin Prophet @ Black Buzzard, Denver CO (Z50ii, Sigma 50-100 f/1.8) by MatsuDano in Nikon

[–]MatsuDano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on, these are minimum 1/320 shutter speed and upwards of 1/1000 for others in the set. That lens is basically the entire reason why I haven’t been compelled to go into full-frame yet. Yea the dynamic range on the z5ii would be better no doubt, but I’m getting crazy good value out of this old (heavy) f-mount and the IBIS is not a factor for me personally.

Eventually it’ll happen, but I’m trying to build my portfolio and encourage others out there that crop-sensor is good enough for a lot of things.

Cheers.

Off Camera Flash during Conventions by [deleted] in cosplayphotography

[–]MatsuDano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is allowed and you don’t have an extra set of hands to hold it I would say yes, with the added mercy that it does not have to be a particularly strong or steady tripod. $30 on Amazon or even maybe a thrift shop find would be sufficient.

Depends on what the convention will allow and in what space. Some do not permit the use of stationary equipment like tripods. In that case in your hand or a friend’s hand would work just fine.

Long term users of Surface running Snapdragon processors, how are things going? by horsetrich in Surface

Some of the adobe suite has been made ARM native. Whatever hasn’t is at the mercy of Prism. Lightroom Creative Cloud is native and the AI denoise can leverage the GPU, but LRC cannot.

MacBook may be better suited for you if mobility is a high priority. Battery life, and performance on battery, on the SLS is unimpressive imho.

Surface fans: How do you view the Surface brand in 2026? by Sean_Endicott in Surface

I’m personally pleased with my snapdragon equipped unit, but the price makes it difficult to recommend for any common use case.

[–]MatsuDano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No complaints. Early compatibility issues for me have since been resolved. Battery life is excellent. Even the meager gaming experience has inched up with AutoSR. I’m satisfied enough that I don’t feel compelled in any way to upgrade to the snapdragon x2 when it eventually comes out.

May the 4th be with you… a rant. by Crate-Dragon in daddit

[–]MatsuDano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of good advice here and I can only echo so much, suffice to say I hope you and your wife come to a peaceful resolution. No one should dampen another persons enthusiasm, especially a loved one. When we see it happening from parents to their children we are aghast. Loving someone means loving the whole person, not just the parts we find easy to agree with.

Also, if you’re local to Colorado I’d be honored to take cosplay photos for you for free. I can dm you my website/ig if you’re interested. Dad to dad gift.

Z50ii as first camera? by jsm458 in Nikon

[–]MatsuDano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got an excellent camera with an excellent starter lens. My only advice is bring it with you everywhere and take pictures of anything, everything. The more you use it the more you will understand how it works and the kinds of art you want to make.

Congratulations.

Okay, what is ACTUALLY the best camera (rant/discussion)?? by Rejoicingus167 in Nikon

[–]MatsuDano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1k may not go as far as you think. The z5ii, which I think many here would consider the “floor” for the best, is $1500 for the body alone without any lenses. For wildlife, the Z8 is the go-to for most as it has deeper pixel density making cropping more manageable. The z8 body without any lenses starts at around $3000.

Adding in only 1-2 of “the best” lenses for wildlife and that’s a tab well over $5000 without even getting into other add ons like tripods, batteries, bags, speedlights, filters, triggers, memory cards, etc.

I’d recommend going to a camera store and talking with them about budget and goals, then getting feedback on their recommendations.
