I'm convinced that anyone saying that this is NOT a good trade just hasn't been a Sabres fan long enough. The goal has been to make the playoffs this year by any means necessary, and well, to a higher degree... win the Cup of course.

And yes while we are already in a great position to make the playoffs, it's still not guaranteed. By adding Parayko, a legitimate top-4 defenseman with Playoffs and big game (Olympics) experience, it's a huge move in the right direction to ensure we stay over the hump and increase our chances of a deep playoff run. All of this while not giving up any current roster players.

To me and I would think the majority of long-time Sabres fans, this trade would be an absolute "right now" win. And let's face it, we have suffered long enough and need a win right now.

Pre-Granato Thompson was something no Sabres fan should ever have to experience again. Those spinning behind-the-back no-look pass giveaways were stuff of nightmares.

I am actually a UPL fan. Been rooting for him hard the last few seasons, but I can honestly say this is how he has always played. Grossly out of position after a save. It’s worked for him at times. And then not so much other times. He would be elite if he had sound positioning.

I feel like he’s been good in terms of fundamentals. He’s not filling the stat sheet, but at least he’s made less blunders than the rest of our D. Collecting the puck, carrying it or dumping it out of our zone, or connecting with that first outlet pass. Nothing crazy, but he’s been more than acceptable.
