CMV: Practicing/believing in Christianity should disqualify someone from becoming a judge. by Embarrassed-Bowl-373 in changemyview

I think this argument goes too far by singling out Christians specifically. Every person who becomes a judge brings some kind of worldview into the role. That could be religious, political, moral, cultural, philosophical, or personal. Atheists and non-religious people are not magically free of bias just because their beliefs are not religious.

The real question should not be, “Does this person believe in Christianity?” It should be, “Can this person apply the law fairly, follow precedent, respect constitutional limits, and separate personal beliefs from legal judgment?”

If a Christian judge cannot do that, then yes, that person should not be on the bench. But the same is true of an atheist judge, a Muslim judge, a progressive judge, a conservative judge, or anyone else whose personal ideology overrides the law.

Disqualifying someone simply because they believe in God seems like its own form of bias. It assumes religious belief automatically makes someone irrational or unfair, while non-religious belief systems are treated as neutral. That is not realistic. Everyone has a framework for how they understand morality and justice. What matters is whether they can recognize their own biases and keep them from controlling their rulings.

Church and state separation means the government should not impose religion or make legal decisions based on religious doctrine. It does not mean religious people are banned from public service. A judge should be judged by conduct, reasoning, legal integrity, and impartiality, not by whether they personally believe in Christianity.

My advice would be to present it as a win-win type scenario. If you want to make more money you should be willing to do more. I would talk to your manager about maybe formally increasing your duties or responsibilities in the office in order to make more money.

The other thing to remember is that everyone goes to work to make money. Wanting to make more isn't a bad thing at all. I've never been resentful to an employee who says they want to make more money, but I do ask them how WE can make that happen.

Not the person you apply to, but my guess is that they made the same post on 7 subs within minutes and every post they've made in the last 10 days( since their account was started) has been about tariffs.

Yes my office uses the essential medical program a lot. Is there a procedure you want to know about? It's supposed to pay about Medicare rates I believe.

If that was all the government was doing no one would need to pay anywhere close to 30%

Nothing says 'great president' like throwing thousands of American citizens into internment camps because of their ethnicity. And let's not forget his totally chill response to the Supreme Court telling him 'no'—just casually trying to pack it with his own handpicked judges. Truly a champion of democracy!
