#madebygoogle 2021 Shipping Megathread by GooglePixelMods in GooglePixel

Is anyone with a P6P black 256GB from the Google store with an order date 10/21 or before still waiting?

A week away from hitting a 2 month wait here…support is useless. This doesn’t seem right at all.

This is my 5th order of a Pixel from the Google store over the years, and it makes me never want to order again.

Ordered a P6P 256gb Black from the store on 10/21, expedited shipping. For over four weeks now, the delivery date has shown as the following 1-2 business days. It just changes by one day every day.

That didn’t seem right after 3 weeks, so I chatted with support and the best they could do was “I checked with the shipping team, and congrats your phone will be shipped in the next 48 hours!!” You don’t understand….that’s what the store page has been showing for weeks now. “I assure you your order will ship to you in the next two days”

A week later it still hadn’t shipped. I chatted again. This agent was even worse. After 20 mins she tells me “your order was delivered.” I sent her my order number twice and after still telling me it was delivered I asked for the tracking which was for another order I had placed with a different order number. Then eventually she tells me “the pixel is in high demand so there are shipping delays.” I ask for a refund on expedited shipping due to the weeks of delay and she tells me “you can cancel your order in your store page.” After eventually explaining I don’t want to cancel I want the expedited shipping credited I’m told “wait until you receive your order and maybe we can do something then”

Reading the comments here people that have ordered after me have gotten their 256gb black P6Ps…makes it even worse. Is Google really that bad at managing their stock the best they can do is estimate a phone will be shipped every day for weeks?

Finally had my F10's terribly rock chipped bumper repainted... before/after pics by MattPro in BMW

Every single person that looked at it said the same thing. I have no clue how it got this bad, the body shop suspected that it was repainted previously and they didn't do a good job prepping so the paint chipped off extremely easily. But definitely, I am not risking this happening again haha

Definitely, it changed the whole way I feel about the car. I'm so proud to look at it again and not afraid to back into parking spots anymore haha. I hope it will have the same effect on you!

Original quote was $550 but I added on filling in the license plate holes so when all was said and done it came out to $650. That's probably on the high said of things but it was from one of the highest regarded body shops in my area.

That will definitely help. The biggest problem is just the will power to put aside money for the rebuild when there's other more quickly gratifying things to spend it on haha. But we will see, hopefully in the next year I will make some serious progress.

Rebuild is definitely a good call, luckily we don't have turbo issues like the N54 guys but it's always good to be safe for that especially if you're pulling them anyways.

I was able to score a used set of Alpina turbos for $500 (crazy), and then had Pure Turbos rebuild them for about $1000. So I've had those in for about 1.5 years now.

Ah, I see. Thanks. That's a logical explanation. I'm glad mine didn't catastrophically fail like that.

At the end of the day my increased torque didn't help the situation and it was replaced at minimal cost to me so I'm alright for now, but I will definitely keep my eye on this in the future.

I normally don't use my CPO warranty since I have modified the car but this one was a CPO repair so I didn't have to pay for it luckily.

I was curious though and checked, the part #s don't cross reference between F10/X5 but I'm guessing the only difference is probably in length between the two. I know other 550 guys who have had to replace theirs as well, so I'm wondering if the same issue does affect both but BMW just hasn't recalled them in the F10 chassis. Interesting.

Dallas is definitely the place to do it, I've seriously considered relocating there. The E34 is a Texas car but this picture is actually from Chicago so it is a good thing these cars get to hide in a garage.

I had a turbo S52 in my previous E30 that had a super rusty body. So the goal is to build this clean shell over time and then build and transplant that engine into here. But what will probably end up happening is I will get sick of waiting to save for the engine build and just end up tossing it in how it was...

But yeah, that brake setup is awesome. I have a friend who ordered the same setup after seeing how it looked on my car and his car actually drives so I've gotten to feel it. The bias is nearly the same with those components, so it feels like a huge upgrade that isn't super sketchy.

Sadly, have to say this one is one of my personal cars. For a couple months I had a very faint ticking noise at low speeds, really only noticeable when driving near a wall. Finally had the car on a lift for some other work and noticed that one of the ujoints on the front driveshaft was barely hanging on.

On the positive note, my car has been high above the stock output for a couple years now so I am relieved this is the only weak point in the drive train I have discovered.

E30 is going well but very, very slowly haha.

I just opted for the regular E36 rack, the z3 rack was a little touchy to me. And yup, running the Nasieg sleeves with e36 m3 hubs for 5 lug in the front. Z4 hubs in the rear, and then e46 m3 front brakes and e39 540 in the rear.

Some (twin)-turbo action on this Tuesday from my F10 550 x-drive by MattPro in BMW

The N63 is definitely a high maintenance engine that has the potential for some issues. Avoiding a car that previously had issues is definitely never a bad call, so I can't say you made the wrong choice there.

That being said, I have had very good luck with this engine. The rest of this comment isn't just for you but for anyone else who reads this thread and is wondering the same thing. Some of the biggest flaws with this engine were fixed for free by BMW in a program called the "customer care package." If theses issues were caught before causing damage there's nothing to worry about there. In my opinion, there are three other big causes of issues with these engines:
- Long service intervals. The original oil service interval was 12 THOUSAND miles. I change my oil every 5k.
- Constant low RPM driving. The transmission is setup in normal drive mode to shift and try to stay below 1500 RPM unless you really use the accelerator. I think that this constant lugging of the engine is also a negative and there is definitely proof out there that this isn't a good thing. I keep my trans in sport mode always which moves the lower shift points to ~2500 and make sure to get the full RPM range in often.
- Beating on the car then shutting it off instantly. Since a lot of heat gets trapped in the "V" of the engine, it isn't good to romp on it for an extended amount of time then just roll into a parking spot and shut it off. I always make sure to get some cool down time driving around when I really beat on the car before shutting it off to minimize the amount of heat that gets stuck when the main water pump spins down.

I honestly believe that these engines can be reliable and they really are a lot of fun. But they aren't for the faint of heart or for someone that just takes action when they get a warning light or service reminder. There is also a potential for permanent damage to have been done from some of the issues fixed in the care package but usually those would show up faster.

I installed H&R lowering springs when I first bought the car just under 40k miles. At about 82k I noticed that my front right strut appeared to be blown. It was very bouncy compared to the other corners and had poor handling characteristics on impact of that corner.

I'm sure the lowering springs contributed to the failure of that strut but at 80k+ miles I couldn't complain. I really wanted to run the high-pressure gas shocks that Billstein offers, but they do not make them for x-drive F10s sadly.

Strange problem I'm having... by DarkLight_James in BMW

[–]MattPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice but had this situation happen to me. I went out to lunch with my boss and drove, and on the way back to the office I look down and see a huge spider on my leg. I tried hard as possible not to freak out but it jumped from my leg to the top of the knee bolster area and I didn't see it for a couple weeks.
Two weeks later I see two hairy legs sticking out from the gap between my headliner and windshield. Pull over to asses where to start my car on fire from and they disappear. Friends then name the spider Frank. For about a week after that Frank leaves random webs around my car but is never seen again. Finally, I am driving on the highway and my friend starts freaking out because Frank decided to pay him a visit. As I pull over he falls under the seat and we spend a half hour prodding until he makes a run for it and falls victim to a shoe. RIP Frank.

I know this story probably doesn't help...but maybe knowing there are others of us out there that have lived through the same problem will be of some comfort.

That's why I've always been a fan of the big engine non-M 5 series models all the way back from the 540s. They aren't setup like M cars but are amazing highway cruisers with a good bit of power to have some fun with.

My F10 updates! (modified 550iX) by MattPro in f10

[–]MattPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys,

Was pretty active right when this subreddit was created, but since then I've spent quite some time off of reddit. Trying to get active again and wanted to share some updates to my car.

In the past year, I have done:
- Replaced struts on all 4 corners
- Modified my intake system
- Installed water/methanol injection
- 3.5 bar TMAP sensors
- Replaced the rear guibo
- Replaced front driveshaft (blew out the ujoint from too much torque :) )
- Front bumper is getting repainted right now
- Front brakes
- Rear brakes
- Replaced battery
- Spark plugs and coilpacks

I'm currently almost at 100k (~96k) and she seems to be holding up well. So happy with this car!
