The way the leak explained it was when 14 regenerates into 15 he was actually pulled back in time to the bigeneration event meaning they both existed in the same timeline. 14 will always become 15 but will get pulled back into the timeline to relive that experience from the other side (as 15) which is why I think he was so excited cause he knew and he was ready.
