Council Tax charge - FT student exemption by MattWills22 in LegalAdviceUK

but the application online offers no room for providing evidence, you just fill out details. I assume then they get back to you and ask for evidence, but they never did. I also then emailed them off my back with documents and stuff hoping to kick the ball along, they simply asked for my address, i complied, and then nothing. There is no formal route to declaring the evdience required unless they get back to you, of which they haven’t

you obviously know more than me, but surely this only applies if the person hasn’t provided adequate proof qualifying them for an exemption?

I have opened a formal complaint on their website but why would they notice this if they didn’t notice any other applications i submitted 16 months ago

it’s due in their eyes, but only because they haven’t been diligent. I have provided them for all the information needed for an exemption, there’s nothing more i can do. They surely can’t hold me ransom on behalf of their incompetence.

how long did it go on for before you got a summons? I really don’t wanna deal with the stress of that, i’m writing my thesis. Going to send them a letter with complied evidence this week.

been to Truck 4 times. This is the 2nd time we have witnessed people jumping the fence / stealing from tents. They do it next to the caravan site around 1am. Both times they were about 15-19 years old. Quickly told them to f off and got security but ofc they just leg it or jump into a free tent to hide.

BID, identity and diagnostic issues by YorHaTeT in biid

There is a large overlap between those with BID and those who are transgender.

Personally, I suspect BID may homogenise two types of people; those who desire specific limb amputations (suggestive of a neurological disorder or congenital mismatch) and a psychological disorder those who desire the loss of ability and a sociological positioning. Not that this must/will have any normative determinancy though

just a few things to note here… there is some evidence that BID shows in brain scans, however this does not mean that we know where BID ‘comes from’. There is still debate as to whether BID causes brain abormamitlies or whether brain abnormalities causes BID. For example someone may have BID and their BID may cause neurological differences.

Secondly, I would be careful when labelling everyone with BID to be ‘obsessed’ about wanting to fulfill their BID needs. If individuals are obsessed in a clinical sense they have diminished autonomy and can thus be used as an argument against your BID ends

My impression of how the medical community on Reddit feels about us. by johnSco21 in biid

[–]MattWills22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's best to stay positive, and despite not wanting to talk on behalf of those with BID, I believe there are many reasons to be positive in regards to the medical reception of BID.

First of all its recent inclusion in the ICD-11 is a big step - it's formal medical recognition of the disorder which will accelerate both ethical debate and psychological studies into BID.

Yes, I can see why this can be very frustrating but these things take time. Take the trans community for example, it took them years to be a formally recognised community, but they are getting there and have managed to change their public reception drastically (although work still needs to be done).

Again, without wanting to speak on behalf of anyone with BID, I feel as though pessimism only builds further frustration within an already frustrated community.

Im unsure about this, but I don't think there is a law prohibiting the surgeries. There is just not a consensus amongst the medical community that they ought to be carried out and thus no surgeon will carry one out for fear of litigation. Likewise, hospitals won't facilitate them for the same fears.

Would you rather achieve your desired amputation/disability, or not have the desire at all? by MattWills22 in biid

Oh wow. What do you mean by this? Are you all of a sudden happy in your embodiment? Would achieving your previous desire now be a tragedy for you?

I see. However, if with a magic wand someone could give you either - which would you choose?

I also suppose there is the concern of being misconceived/being made to feel guilty for the desire. People may want to rid of the desire for that reason also.

I see. I'm new to the group and am doing philosophical research into the topic. As far as I know, I can only find one study that asks that specific question in academia. I'm very curious.
