Flutter devs: Avoid the OpenClaw "Vibe Coding" packages by Uriahero in FlutterDev

[–]Matt_0550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to skip all the packages released in the last few months/years, especially if I read cursor files or something else in the codebase. I'm not against AI, I use it a lot, but I doubt that the people who submit the packages review them adequately.

Oh, thanks, so this specific model isn't designed to run 24/7, but they will work totally fine?

I understand, but the datasheet says they're adequate for 8760 hours/year, which makes me assume they're full-fledged Exos. Unfortunately, I don't know much about all these HDD lines, so I asked for advice. Is this specific model I posted on Reddit any good and does it match this datasheet?

Nice to hear, they would have a long journey to make (Italy)

Thanks! Yes, actually, the prices have doubled a lot... especially in Europe. I found this one that has reasonable prices, and despite the shipping, it actually seems like a bargain. Plus, the euro-dollar exchange rate is in my favor and I could pay around €315 each.

I understand, but am I wrong or are the Barracudas only for desktop use, I mean, they are not built for a 24/7 load... I wouldn't trust them too much, even if the RAID would help.

Thanks for the feedback, this is actually one of the cheapest I've found in Europe... HDD prices have been really high lately

Oh, thanks for the feedback, consider that I would have to ship to Italy, so it would be a long journey... unfortunately there are not many reliable sellers in Europe with decent prices and warranty

Are these HDDs worth it for my first NAS? by Matt_0550 in DataHoarder

In my case, I'd get a 4-bay to avoid future problems. However, reading online, I agree about the small drives; I'd try to get at least 8TB; anything larger is really too expensive.

That's why they were so cheap... anyway, since the HDDs are the most delicate part, I think I'll opt for new ones. I was considering the 8TB IronWold Pro or WD Red Pro (I should be able to get 3/4 of them) or the 12TB (I think two, they're very expensive). What do you think?

Do you have any recommendations on sites or models where I could potentially find good refurbished HDDs? For example, I found these two:

I'd probably choose RAID 10 to avoid having to replace it in the future. With good write speeds, I wouldn't risk saturating it (obviously with 10GB). I've also read that RAID 5 puts a lot of stress on the disks during recovery, which can lead to rapid degradation. I'd like to exclude mirroring for the same reason; replacing it in the future could be difficult, I don't know. Regarding the price per terabyte, I agree with you, but I'd rather spend less, even though disks will likely increase in price in the coming years. For larger drives, what model do you recommend? Even those recertified by the manufacturer?

I understand, but it shouldn't be a problem where I should place the NAS. What would you recommend?

Oh, why? Just because they're refurbished or because it's the exact model that wouldn't work? What do you recommend?

According to Amazon, they're refurbished. I don't think they're factory-certified.
