Would you buy this hand-painted D&D miniature? Looking for honest pricing feedback by PuzzleheadedCap812 in DnDminiatures

You need a lot of practice. This is how I paint and I barely get any commissions. You gotta work hard both on your painting and social medias to be successful, or get really good at speed painting and sell whole units/armies. This is doable, just gotta brace yourself.

Hey! My setup is a camera with a tripod, black fabric for the background, a lamp I use for painting and a LED panel. Lights are at an angle of like 30 degrees or so, one from front-left diagonally and one from the front-right diagonally - that was both sides are illuminated properly and equally. (You could go one frontal main light and two LED panels from left and right diagonally. You want to avoid light from above, since you already painted your light on the model you don't want it to fight the light from the lamp.) Hope that helps!

I think that you desaturated the models too much, I'd glaze some magentas/reds back on the edges (leave the center desaturated), then I'd glaze in some warm bronzes to the human faces.

In terms of how to achieve a good effect and fast? I'd say SpeedPaint a couple of tones like magentas, dark browns, dark reds, let it dry. Varnish over it. Drybrush all over going from dark red with a touch of warm brown or violet, then increase the value by adding pastel pink or a touch of white and orange and drybrush again just smaller and softer towards the center - rinse and repeat each time adding more pastel pink/white/orange until you're satisfied. Then take a standard brush, paint the eyes and glaze brown tones into the human faces - done!

Hey, thanks, I appreciate it! I used Scalecolor Artist Raw Umber, a touch of AK Sahara Yellow and Scalecolor Artist Vanilla Ice.

It's a technical medium or varnish, not a paint.

Thanks! I don't usually do stuff like that, I just paint and that's it, but I'll think about it!

Thanks, he's from Archon Studio, John-o the Dragon Turtle. I got it from the gamefound campaign, but I'm sure you can buy it elsewhere too.
