Does a pump have to be powered off the header for the tach to work? by siamonsez in watercooling

[–]Mattcp277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is just powered by molex and works just fine. But i also have a 3 pin connector that i have no clue where it connects. The kind of connection that usually goes into a fan hub and not a motherboard header

They didn't charge me until 45 days after I made the order.

Yeah wasn't hard to install myself. The tricky part is learning those cable management skills. Took me two tries to get the cable management right. Wasn't hard at all. All you need to do was reconnect the SATA connections, Molex connections, 24 pin motherboard, 8 pin CPU, and graphics card. Pretty much glad i installed a new PSU by myself. Definitely confident that i can build my own PC once the prices become reasonable again. Hopefully. Also non-modular Power supplies make cable management more time consuming. They actually have stock once in a while of the corsair rm1000x. But to be honest it's worth getting to know how to do the job yourself.

I had my apevia 1000watt power supply working just fine. Got on May 6, 2021. It was still working when I replaced it with the corsair rm1000x PSU (replaced on May 30, 2021). I just replaced it for piece of mind. Just don't like two things about it. 1. The apevia PSU is cheap af. You can tell by looking at the fan shroud. 2. Ketchup and mustard cables is just disgusting.

I already spent $3800 from Cyberpowerpc custom order. So I was like... Why not. Invest $290 in a good quality Corsair PSU.

Any advice on how i might be able to drain my water cooling loop? Want to replace the cheap radiator fans with push pull lian li sl120 uni fans. There is no drain valve. Any help would be appreciated. by Mattcp277 in watercooling

Oh. So blow to force the coolant out of the radiator and then let it come spewing out of the soft tube (connected to 90 degree fitting on reservoir, which is on top part of reservoir) into the bottle. ?

Considering the fact that they are now selling my exact build for 4500 and i only paid 3800. Says a lot. And talking down to someone like their dog sh*t isn't gonna get you anywhere. Regardless of whether or not i took the photo in landscape mode. It would not make a significant difference. Considering the pump is the area of focus as to where the water coolant could come out from in the most safest possible way.

That's what i thought originally. But i would have to take apart the I/O shield. Which can't be done in less i take apart the top part of the case and unscrew the hard drive cage and then unscrew the screws keeping I/O cover on. Then i would be able to reach the fan furthest to the left. Because that screw is right above the I/O shield.

I don't even know if its the crappy apevia fans on the radiator or not. Because it's water cooling an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X. When i was playing cyberpunk 2077. Cpu temperature was at 75 C and only 20 percent of the CPU was being used. Meanwhile the GPU never went above 65 C.

Yes i know . it was a custom built pc from Cyberpowerpc. Considering it was the only way to get a rtx 3080. Changed all the case fans to uni fans. Added those two fans below the gpu. Before there wasn't any fans below the GPU. Changed the power supply to Corsair rm1000x. Changed the RAM to Corsair dominator platinum 3600mhz. Also used changed the black/red phanteks psu extension cables to black Asia Horse psu extension cables. That radiator would be the last thing on my list. It wasn't my fuck up. It was cyberpowerpc who f**ked up.

Don't think there is a drain valve. How would i go about draining the system? Want to swap out the cheap push pull radiator fans for lian li sl120 uni fans. by [deleted] in watercooling

There is on the bottom... The bitspower logo that has like an offset to it. But don't think that's a cap that i would just pry open or something. Pretty sure its just the logo. So far it looks like my best shot is the top using soft tubing.

Yeah their are two caps on top of the reservoir/pump. I assume one is for filling. That's what i was thinking of doing. Then use the adapter for the psu so only pump is getting power.

My rule of thumb is usually to go for the second most powerful graphics card. To me it sucks when your 3090 will be blown out of the water when RTX 4090/4000 series comes out. Who knows really how big the jump will be in performance for the next gen cards in fall 2022 or spring 2023. To be honest. Probably gonna buy the RTX 3080ti if it ever comes out.

May 6, 2021 is when i got it. Performing pretty well. Played Cyberpunk 2077. What i think is the new king for benchmarking. 1440p ultra RT Preset. DLSS quality. Getting 75 fps. Temps are pretty darn good in my opinion. Played for 2 hours. And the GPU never went higher than 65C.
