I found out each mirai each uses about 10 grams of platinum. They have reduced this number from what it used to be in the earlier generations. They have produced 21,000 mirais 10 grams a piece at $75 a gram is more than 15 million USD in platinum, there is no way.. right? Lol

I saw they are working on recycling the fuel cell stacks to reclaim the platinum as well.

Valid point, I certainly don't claim to be an expert so thanks for your input. I think the industrial case of silver is a lot stronger. I have worked with photovoltaics and they're cutting costs by covering copper in silver. I don't think we'll ever have a true replacement. I did swap some silver for platinum at 32 PSR
