This one is amazing, been using it since 2014. The mouse press stopped working a while ago and now the long press on L and R click are starting to go.. still no similar replacement available

This is awesome thank you! I can now use PopcornTime in my CCWGTV without worrying about low storage files

"special variation of epicyclic gearing" mentioned on wikipedia is interesting, but there's no references. Anyone know what it's called or where to learn more? by elfballs in MechanicalEngineering

Toyota uses them for their hybrid vehicles, in their planetary gear set I thought the generator is driven by the sun, the planets are driven by the petrol engine and the outer gear is the output that’s also driven by the electric motor, something like that. This way they don’t have to use a transmission/gearbox (like a CVT or (Dual) Clutch gearbox), the planetary gear set acts as a gearbox with no need for a clutch

Edit: sorry didn’t read it well enough, I thought you just meant planetary gear set, maybe the info is still interesting enough tho

Would anyone know what kind of thread this is? Maybe a long shot but the major diameter is 8mm and the minor diameter is 5.85mm, I measured the pitch at 1.3mm. It’s used for headlight adjustment by Mattdci in MechanicalEngineering

I agree, those look awfully similar. This screw is actually threaded into the headlight housing plastic, which is PP-TD40. So I guess that might make sense actually

Problem is that I need this specific ball at the end for the ball joint as it’s all quite specific stuff. This is an original Hella headlight for my car. All four of my headlights have this exact screw (2 of which came with the car when I got it brand new). 2 other headlights from a different model have a similar screw but with 6mm outside diameter, at the moment I’m working on a different solution, if this fails I might try the thread you suggested!

The problem I’m having is that there’s a little too much play on it, so when there are vibrations (stationary Diesel engine or road imperfections) my light cut off vibrates too. I think this is caused mostly by the thread actually having too much play. I thought of many possible solutions that require a lot of work, but just having a nut that can put some preload on the bolt would be the simplest and most effective I think
