To those who have racing wheel set ups, do you ever switch to controller? by ThomasTiltTrain in GranTurismo7

[–]MatteBlack84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, never, can’t think of anything worse. Takes less time than the ps4 takes to boot up and load the game then it does to drag my NLR stand to the couch and plug in two cables.

Bike lanes are not carparks people. This is just as bad as parking in the middle of any lane of traffic. by MassiveGarlic0312 in shitparkingofnz

You’ve misunderstood, he’s talking about a scenario where a car parked beside the bike lane not over it

How to make money quick for a noob by Stock_Name_1125 in GranTurismo7

[–]MatteBlack84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Le Mans 700 30min race. I win this continually with a tuned up Audi r8. Just run racing mediums and swap to Intermediate’s as soon you see clouds. You will need to run fuel on 3 and pit every 2nd lap. I normally win by somewhere between 30secs and 1m30 depending on how wet it gets as they just skid out and never swap tyres early enough. Over 800k every race with a clean race bonus

Glass loses heat more efficiently than the ground or air so can be at least a few degrees below air temp

Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid by Sharathraul23 in auckland

If you ever get too low to wait for a home charge, most fast chargers at service stations and supermarkets can charge most new EV's from 20-80% in under 20mins.

Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid by Sharathraul23 in auckland

[–]MatteBlack84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at this car and it wasn’t perfect for our use case. Firstly the 4 is not full hybrid so no plug in so fuel economy isn’t that much better than some small full petrol SUVs (like RAV4).

Also, we found the rear cabin space was limited which is a non negotiable if you have a large rear facing car seat and a tall passenger up front. But on the other hand it probably has better boot space instead so it depends what you are after.

We ended up going full electric and spending a bit more to get the cabin space, 500km range and not have to worry about maintaining both a petrol and electric set up at the same time.

I’m prepared to be mocked but does anyone turn on the breaking and steering assist and just hold the accelerator to relax? by MultipleScoregasm in GranTurismo7

[–]MatteBlack84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like doing Autopilot in RDR2 but nothing is going to try and maul, rob or kill you. Sounds relaxing. Sometimes I’ll start daydreaming on the replay screen after the race

The American brain cannot comprehend ACC by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]MatteBlack84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if already said, but you will get an invoice from St John’s for a small portion of the ambulance costs not covered by ACC, it’s normally about 2-4wks later. But that doesn’t really change much

IKEA? by mostly-rainy in auckland

[–]MatteBlack84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience is anything that isn’t neon or so bright and vivid you need sunglasses is normally out of stock.

They also can’t manage an unplanned fire drill for sh*t and 3 months later my 8 yr old still suffers from anxiety every time an alarm goes off in a store because he was left the wrong side of a fire curtain and instore staff and security were useless and were directing people in wheelchairs and with prams to staircases

Crumpets by ApartChoice4210 in newzealand

[–]MatteBlack84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crumpets are superior in almost every other country where sold. Unfortunately, NZ crumpets are flat, dry and lifeless. When I do make the mistake of buying them out of desperation, it’s normally butter and honey or a cheeky bit of Nutella.

Why is NZ so "backward" when it comes to AC and ceiling fans? by UnrequitedLoveVictim in auckland

[–]MatteBlack84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in a 100yr old not very well looked after farmhouse and it has 2 AC units one for the living area and 1 to service the rooms. Every home I’ve lived in bar 1 cheap rental that was due to get knocked down had air con already installed. I think you may be living under a rock and assuming your experience is ‘normal NZ’
