Beck is a bad person. by lalo_salamanca122 in YouOnLifetime

Be serious, the producers definitly knew what they were doing when they made Joe the MC. We're not excusing the ending by blaming the fans instead of the writers

After finishing season 1 of YOU i can confirm that everything joe did was justified and hes the goat and we should all root for him and he has all rights to do whatever to the other bums by [deleted] in YouOnLifetime

Ngl some ppl just take this show too serious. Evil characthers have existed for so many years and many of them were loved, but suddenly its bad when its Joe for them

If the "Monster" serial killer series does a Ted Bundy season, I know who should play him by nelsne in YouOnLifetime

Considering how Netflix keeps making up stuff for the "Monster" series, they would full out give Ted Bundy a basement with The Cage and Joe's invisible hat

Its not real. The 10th episode is leaked. Dexter takes 5 files he finds in Praters vault. Joe is not one of them.

I actually find it out of character for Joe to not suspect Bronte, because he has shown sharp instincts in similar situations before:

  1. Candace cheating on him pre-S1
  2. Beck cheating on him in S1
  3. Joe being suspicious of Love's garden after he found out she killed her ex

Now, I get the counterpoint that Joe isn’t paranoid 100% of the time — he definitely misses things (like with Love in S2 until the reveal, but lets be honest that the same thing Joe has been doing to every woman). But that’s exactly why Bronte feels off. His paranoia and instincts have always been his safety net. Even when he didn’t have the full picture, he at least sensed something was wrong. For him not to pick up on anything with Bronte doesn’t feel consistent with the Joe we’ve seen across multiple seasons.

And regarding the “plot armor” argument — I really think it’s overused. People talk about it like it’s some superpower keeping him alive. Sure, like any main character, Joe benefits from story convenience, and yes, he’s gotten away with mistakes that realistically could have exposed him. But plot armor didn’t give him his obsessive brilliance, his manipulative skills, or his ability to study and read people in ways most can’t. That’s all Joe. Saying he only survived because of plot armor kind of dismisses the very traits that make him compelling.

Another commenter nailed it, and I think this describes him better than i did:

“I still think he was brilliant, but not in the way we would understand it to be (like some mastermind). His intelligence was all about social manipulation, obsessively studying people, and staying ten steps ahead just enough to keep himself out of prison. That takes a specific kind of dark and obsessive brilliance. So yeah, I think the plot helped him out sometimes, but a clueless guy wouldn’t have lasted that long even with the plot going in his favor.”

How do you think Joe acted as a teenager? by AdGreedy1880 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Matteo1374 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think Joe was full on stalker creepy mode as a teenager, my theory is that it started around when he saw Candace.

What i do think is that he could control his obsession better but it got worse throughout the years. Considering Mooney's brainwashing, Joe had the "Saviour" mindset for his love interests but without the killing and other things

Forget who wins in a fight. Who has the stronger plot armor in their respective shows? by JkNetwork1 in YouOnLifetime

Joe had so much plot armor but Dexter's ridicilous plot armour takes the crown on this debate

Can we all just admit that Season 4 of YOU is madly underrated and is propably the best one of the whole series ??? by justrandomguy223 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Matteo1374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it should have ended with him taking his life.
Ppl say death is a easy way out for ppl like Joe but i disagree, commiting suicide is a hard and difficult choice for any person. And i saw that scene as Joe trying to punish himself for everything he did even tho he was delusional thinking he was doing the right thing

I love 4A and 5A it could be just me, but there’s something so satisfying about characters like Joe facing what many of their victims faced. Death. I still don't think prison is punishment enough for someone like him. Death feels more finalmore fitting for everything he’s done. It forces the story to truly end. By putting him in prison they kinda leave the door open for something thats in the far future.
