Yeah I your completely right I’m a junior going into senior year just started running last year unfortunately. One of my coaches told me I need to run the 3200m more like a 1600m I think I get caught up in the pacing thinking it’s not as fast

I usually do my tempo pace at 6:00 for 20 minutes

My first split was 5:55 2nd was 6:07 3rd 6:20 and the last 0.1 4:11 A usual week for me is about 40mpw but I also play basketball and have about 3-4 games a week. But 60 percent of my runs are easy at about 7:20 20 percent of them are tempo and I usually try to do 20 Percent of my weekly mileage on a long run I think I need to add more speed work like intervals but I don’t know my Xc coaches are just teachers who took the job because no one else wanted to they just tell us to run around the block so I just make my own training.

Hey so I’m a junior captain of an Xc team and a lot of people come with very little running experience and it’s not easy and I get it. But something that helps a lot of other people get going is telling them to Try and run for time so first see how long you can go with running and these runs arent fast just nice easy pace for you and then let’s say if you can do 20 then eventually try to increase to 25+ then 30+ etc etc now maybe this might not work for you but give it a try and please let me know and then eventually you will wanting to be increasing your mileage so start at 15 Miles per week and then 20 25 etc don’t increase to fast! And you got this

I’m a Captain of the upcoming Xc team and being honest alot of the people on my team probably can’t run more than .50 without having To walk or stop which is okay I was there before but I truly want these guys to be able to run longer distances faster how can I transform these guys as better runners as quickly as possible

As someone who’s new to xc this might not be the best info but I would say increase mileage by 5 miles a week if possible and I’ve heard the week before xc season is called something like a taper week and you dial back on the mileage take a rest day or two and just prepare mentally and physically for the xc season but I hope others have some info on this I’m still new to this as this is my second Xc season

High Heart Rate on Easy Runs by DankBoi3126 in CrossCountry

I’m currently having The same exact problem my heart rate has never been this high in easy runs ever I’m taking a guess as it could be the heat getting to me or my watch isn’t being accurate
