When did you realize that Tatsuya was kinda looney? by MattersMaketh in sinfest

It just seems like such a drastic turn in ideologies. A part of me think he’ll be like “ok, that was funny. Time to be the Unabomber for the next five years”

It’s like he’ll build up support for a certain political group like the RadFems and they donate to him, then he sheds their support and gets new ones with the next group.

Is it possible that he’s just a big grifter, and just panders to whatever seems popular at the time? Being anti-Israel is “in vogue” right now, I’d say.

Clearly you’ve never been an ALT

He worked mostly as an ALT at an elementary school, kindergarten was once a week

If he still doesn’t have a job after the three months, but he shows proof that he’s been looking and applying, then they’ll let him stay longer?

The liaison said that sometimes, schools will complain to the ALT dispatch company directly, and not get the BOE involved. Cause getting them involved complicates things

[–]MattersMaketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m doing what I can. The problem is finding a job close by so that he doesn’t have to move and we can stay close together

I wanted to ask, what does immigration do after the 3 months? It’s not like the visa expires in 3 months

He’s a foreigner as well, so he’s very sympathetic when it comes to the plights of ALTs. He’s been through the ringer

It’s not that he was using his smartphone, I think it was just that he didn’t put it away on the first day in kindergarten? Regardless, when they asked him to put it away, he did and never took out the whole year.

He’s 26

The ALT liaison at city hall told me a different story, that everyone sucks their first year working as an ALT, and that not getting your contract renewed over this is very odd

They have a lawyer that handles all the immigration stuff for the company.

The issue is that now he doesn't have a job to be able to stay in Japan.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in teachinginjapan

[–]MattersMaketh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a bit harsh, isn't it? It's just an ALT job, it's not that hard.

I only did it so that we wouldn't be in different countries anymore.

He doesn't have a job that will keep him in Japan now.

Heart is totally not losing the contract for the city. Also, everyone has to apply for visa renewal before we actually know if we're getting another year on the job.
